Default Rendering Part Of A Project

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I'm still trying to get to grips with all that Reaper can do.

I'm sure this will have been covered somewhere so if you can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.

Firstly to make sure I have the terminology correct. In Audacity and Logic once you have finished mixing you render to mix your multiple tracks to a stereo file. I trust that this is the same in Reaper. I see that there are online and offline options.

I've just recorded a big band concert on 8 tracks. The show lasts for an hour. When mixed I'd like to save each separate tune as a separate stereo file. How do I select just part of the project?

Thanks for your help.

Hi there. All the tracks which are muted won't be rendered. So you can do a 8 time job with track 1, track 2,...track 8. If there"s nothing I didn't understand, this can be the way. Hope it helps, bye

Click and drag on the timeline to select the area desired. Right click and select 'create region from selection', if you wish to save this time selection for the future.
Then, when highlighted:

File/Render/ Source: Master Mix/ Bounds: Time Selection
Rest of settings as desired.

I thought it was just to differentiate tracks from others.

Thanks for your assistance, I thought it should be fairly simple but at 1 am my brain wasn't at its best.

Make a time selection of each section. If a section is a single item, just CTRL+double click it, otherwise manually make the selection.

SHIFT+R to "Create region from selection", then right-click > edit the region and name it accordingly to the song name you want. Rinse and repeat for each section/song you want exported.

Go into the Render dialog and choose...

When you click Render, you will get one stereo file for each region you created with each exported file having the name you gave that region.
