Default Mouse settings

In connection with my question (still no replies) five o'clock this afternoon: I thougt there would be settings for the mouse - how long time (0.05 - 0.5 sec?) you have to press the mouse-button in order to be able to move an item. So that you don't move by mistake, if you just wanted to select/mark/highlight that item.

But I have looked through the menues, and I can find no such settings.

The only way around this is locking (horizontal and/or vertical movements). You can find that option by right clicking the lock icon in the toolbar. And while that works, Reaper is waaay too sensitive when willfully moving items when compared to any other DAW.

A feature like the one you describe (whether by time or by pixels) would alleviate many problems, and it would also increase accessibility.

As it stands now, you need both a precise mouse and exceptional fine motor skills to prevent moving mistakes. This applies not only to clips, but also to automation points, automation items, and even assigning sends.

I've said it before: it seems to me like Reaper developers use a trackball and thus don't notice these issues.

Thanks for you reply, copperx. Maybe this should be suggested to the staff, as an improvement? But there seems to be no special thread for that? But a person named Schwa seems to represent Cockos?
