Default Reaper and rtpMIDI issue

I have a problem with Reaper (most recent version) and rtpMIDI - I'm using rtpMIDI to connect a drum controller software (MidiPads, which is great btw) on my iPad to control Addictive Drums on Reaper 4.22 (Windows XP Pro SP3). Whenever I select MIDI inputs and outputs for live routings in rtpMIDI, they become inaccessible in Reaper - I get a MIDI error message whenever I want to enable them under MIDI devices in Reaper's Preferences ("the following MIDI input could not be opened"). It's so frustrating. Everything works great in Cubase 5.

if you want to use rtpMIDI ports as Reaper's Control/OSC/Web where you create Mackie Control device,
you MUST DISABLE those MIDI ports in Reaper's MIDI Devices

Thank you for letting us know.
But, to be honest, it would not hurt if you shared your knowledge, I think (anyway, even you came here to ask for something, didn't you?)
