Money in mouth, as so to speak :¬) I've spent the last week designing a new V6 Retina/HiDPI theme. Just finished the alternative TCP layout:
Close up:
Full 4K alternative TCP screenshot here.
Traditional (all colour) TCP also available:
Full screen 4K shot here.
I'm posting updates in this thread:
https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=228983
I'll be releasing a Retina only beta hopefully tonight or tomorrow. Keep finding things to tweak :¬)
Standard resolution version will follow post Xmas/NY.

Looks awesome, would you mind sharing? I wanted to make track names with white color, but I'm too lazy to edit the theme.

IMHO you should have done the Default Theme in the first place.
This will be available? Just tell me where to send the check!

I have never commented on themes other than perhaps to say that there are options to use others. What a labour to make one of these and I know labour as most artists do.
The B0se theme though I have to comment. I have eyesight issues but this B0se theme, well so easy on the eye just like that favourite piece of well made hardware.
Just sensational.
Well done to you b0se
And everybody else who treads the path of theme making.
Happy Christmas and New Year

Thanks for the kind words! I've very much enjoyed the design process and can't wait to share it.
I wasn't going to theme every element originally, but it has taken on a life of its own, so to speak, and I'd like to theme everything now. Just the dialog icons to do, along with some pan/volume stacks, then the HiDPI/Retina version (2x scale) will be released as V1.
V2 will have the standard resolution version. Nait has very kindly offered to help resize it all for users who don't have retina screens. I will help of course, I can't let him do it all by himself, it's a big task.

Stock V6 theme doesn't have enough contrast. It feels a bit... flat and washed out.

Question for you b0se; when in the mcp, does this theme allow collapsing of the folders so that only main folder shows?

Forgive me for replying in b0se's stead, I think he may be absent for a couple of days over the festive period.
If you examine this image from the official post for this theme, the answer to your question is "yes."

I actually have no idea how to enable that, I need to do that to theme the folder/collapse icon :¬)
If you know how to enable it, let me know. It's based off stock V6, when I load that there are no MCP folders either.

Really?
That is very strange.
Default V6 MCP folder collapse works fine for me although it has been a while since I tried it.
Something to fix when you get back.

Actually, I don't see MCP collapse icons on any theme.
Must be an option somewhere in Reaper?

same for me, even with the modified theme i brought over from V5. hence my asking about it.
I do know that on V5 I can do that on the MCP or TCP with a particular theme, also using a .rpp template. move it over to V6 and no go...
not a deal killer but It is something i grew accustomed to being able to do on larger track counts.
Merry Christmas to everyone too!
*** perhaps I could have read to the bottom of the thread?
In Fact please consider my earlier question answered!

The lack of contrast is my concern as well. I'm getting old....(getting? Who am I kidding?)....and I'm starting to have difficulties with my sight that just 5 years ago didn't exist. Most DAWs with any kind of adjustment at all have a contrast setting or something for the sight impaired. I'm not saying I'm blind yet or anything--I'm just saying that it's a pretty basic thing that is generally accepted as a standard item, and I'm surprised that there's not some way to get around it with as flexible as Reaper is.

Hello!
I'm new here and not sure where to report bugs about themes.
I posted a thread in REAPER Bug Reports on theme adjuster not being displayed properly with OS scaled to 175%. However, I got no response yet. Here's the link: https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?p=2217587
By the way, b0se's Smooth 6 theme has the same problem.
Thanks!

Thats because it was made with a specific resolution in mind, and that will scale according to your windows/osx settings. Also we only have 100%, 150% and 200% available, and the theme must provide the code and the images for each.
I am still hoping for vector support, maybe in the v7, because given the amount of resolutions available on the market (soon 6k and 8k monitors will be around) it will be harder and harder to make themes to meet each and every resolution/scaling properly.

Thanks for reply!
V6 theme itself is still usable in my situation. I just can't use theme adjuster to do some customization.

That's a good point and an excellent idea
Probably very hard to code for that but would be worth the effort for the end user who would no longer have to worry about having different monitor resolutions in multi-monitor setups.

Is there a way to move the track names in the mixer panel to the top of the panel instead of the bottom, without going crazy with the theme editing? Basically to make it act like 5.0 default. It's driving me crazy working with sends and not being able to see the track name directly below the sends.

You can turn off dpi scaling, make the customizations, and turn on again.

Not that i know of. But you can see the sends in the extended mixer, along with receiving track name and volume control.

The V6 theme looks more modern, but usability-wise it's a major regression.
Mostly for the reasons already raised by EricTbone and others, so +1 to them.

If there were two long-term Reaper UI-related FR's for me they'd be:
1. Vector support
2. Replace OS dialog boxes with theme-able host dialog boxes
I don't think we'll see either any time soon, but I can dream right?

Right-clickable Record Button
I'm back and forth between 5 and 6 but one smallish tweak would get me 90% to where I would want 6 to be.
If there was an "R" Record button in place of the phase button, it would make the aesthetics and workflow completely work for me.
Screen Shot 01-23-20 at 01.38 PM.PNG

vs:
msr reaper R.png
Or moving the red 'bulls eye' would be fine too.
I love the compactness of the C layout @ 150% but if I want to change any recording settings I have to drag out the TCP-
trying to eliminate as much mousing around as I can. There is plenty of room for it and there is no reason I can see but legacy design for having the rec button always in the track name area.
Mute, Solo, Record, all together- BOOM!

In reaper 6 You can move TCP to right side and have those buttons close together

Lot of stuff to love in the new theme..
here are the things that bug me
do not like the record button next to play prefer a standard transport layout
I think the mix faders should be to the left of the meters
prefer the record and record monitor buttons at the bottom of the mixer strip
the mix fader caps and the routing buttons just bug me
Other than that I've found a lot that I really like but these are the things that have kept me from switching from my old theme.

I still prefer Commala 2016 over anything i tried, including V6/V5.
Waiting for bOse's Smooth 6 1080 version to see if THAT will convert me away.

Imho the theme is way to dark.
It would be really awesome to have a slider going from dark to bright. Like the dim function just for the whole theme
