Default Accidentally blocked reaper.exe

I received a warning popup stating that reaper.exe was trying to access my Reaper Media folder, would I like to block it?
I accidentally hit yes, and now Reaper can't record.
The error message is

REAPER Recording Error
Can't write to recording files

Does anyone know how to restore permission to reaper.exe?

Thanks,
Bob

What was the dialog window? I am not sure what are you talking about.

Can you try this - Windows Key+i > Update & Security > Windows Security > Virus and threat protection > Virus and threat protection Settings > Manage Controlled Folder access > Toggle off Controlled Folder access

(Don't forget to toggle on Controlled folder access once testing is done)

If result is successful, add the exclusion for this.

Alternatively, as you say, up to Virus and threat protection

Then click on Protection History

That lists all the latest protection actions and recommendations from Windows Security but there is a possibility that the manual action to block something may be in there.

I'm only guessing as I have never accidentally clicked yes on that particular action.

Mac user here but...

You either have an OS gatekeeper function that can password protect access to Application and Library folders or you have a network monitor app that can block software from calling home. (Reaper calls home for a software update check on launch FYI)

Entering your OS password for the former (possibly needing to go into system preferences security settings) or removing the errant block 'rule' from the latter.

Run that through the decoder ring as needed for your OS or apps in question.

Me too. That's why I know it is Windows.
