@alcoustic:
  1. Go to the first post of this thread.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the post until you see the attachments:

  3. Click on the attachments to download them.
  4. By all means make a donation, because ReEQ is magic: https://www.paypal.me/nitsujdsp

The folder will vary depending on your OS, install drive, install type (normal, portable). Follow the instructions in the video. You will succeed if you do.

Or, you can read it in the current REAPER User Guide on page 113.
Thank you James!

No. It's only meant for Reaper.

Before anyone says "but there's a thing called ReaJS": yes I know about that. It's limited to functionality that existed before ReEQ existed, and ReEQ was developed to take advantage of newer functionality of JS plugins. So ReaJS won't work.

Yup, bummer. I was going to use this EQ outside of Reaper framework, but can't do that, yet. Would love it if ReaJS get updated.

Default Amazing!

This is really incredible! first I didn't know JS would be so powerful and this is such an incredible plugin, I wonder why this is not the standard Reaper EQ at this point thank you so much!

It's been 4 years since the last update, and not just for the changes to ReaJS but for other plugins too (ReaComp, ReaEQ, etc.) Previous updates happened more frequently. At this point I'd move on and assume it's not going to be updated at all. If it is, then you can be pleasantly surprised.

Reeq CPU consumption is too much. It consumes more cpu power every time I add node. Considering stock Reaeq cpu consumption is % 0, regardless Reeq is a very nice eq.

Most of the time for mixing you can put ReEQ in Eco mode rather than oversampling HQ mode. That should roughly half the CPU consumption.

You won't get the de-cramping of filter shapes near Nyquist but for many filtering cases that's not an issue.

Another thing is that leaving a ReEQ window open will consume CPU. So it's good to make a habit of closing the window when you're not editing the filter bands.

It's never going to be quite as fast as the native ReaEQ because well, it's a showcase for JSFX and there's speed compromises there.

I recall the user Sonic Anomaly first releasing his plugins as JS and then later porting them to VST. Is this a rather easy task to do?

Just saying, so people who want to use the ReEQ elsewhere and need it to be less CPU hungry, it might be an option to port it. Obviously respecting nitsuj's licensing...

Initially they were converted to VST thanks to Geep Jeez:

Then Sonic Anomaly apparently switched to WDL/IPlug for his later plugins, including the 64-bit ones:

https://forum.cockos.com/showpost.ph...&postcount=212

I suspect Geep Geez lacks newer JS plugin functionality, and perhaps even the ability to make 64-bit plugins. I don't even know what WDL/IPlug is capable of in terms of the more recent functionality of JS plugins. And of course now that's also obsolete, and replaced by iPlug2...which I don't know how it would work for translating JS plugins either.

I'm not a programmer so none of this makes sense to me anyway. I get the sense, however, that only Geep Jeez allowed for a simple GUI-based "drop a JS plugin in here, get a VST plugin spat out there" sort of approach (and that it only worked with more basic/older JS plugins to produce only 32-bit VST plugins).

I've finally loaded the new ReEQ script into ReaJS inside Cakewalk by bandlab.
Actually the only function that created problem was fft_real(fftworkspcae, fftsize), so I've changed it to fft(fftworkspace, fftsize / 2), then it started to work in ReaJS.

To do that Please change the line 559 inside "spectrum.jsfx-inc"
FROM fft_real(spectrum.fftworkspace,spectrum.fftsize); ---> TO fft(spectrum.fftworkspace,spectrum.fftsize / 2);

Sorry I'm late to the party.. I think I'm gonna make this my go too sooner than later.

I'm gonna send you something to buy yourself a beer or ten for that soon. Thanks for all your efforts.

Hi, I tried that but it didn't work out. But maybe it's because of my lack of programming knowledge. Could you post the edited file? Thanks!

Don't do that. That will make the spectrum very incorrect, shifting the frequencies all over the place.

See the attached file. Drop that in the directory, and add
Code:
import reajs_compatibility.jsfx-inc.txt
to the start of spectrum.jsfx-inc. That will provide you with a very rough approximation. It's still not great, since you get half the spectral resolution and the spectrum isn't windowed correctly anymore, but it's a bit better as a 'drop in' replacement.

As for Geep Jeez, yes, it's quite outdated now w.r.t. JSFX. I remember having a look at it for some of my own plugs earlier and deciding that it wasn't worth the hassle.

Blackwing13,
here attached the modified script. (Remove .txt extension while you're putting it Effects folder)

But please remember as sai'ke said it will mess up the spectrum graph, but you will be able to use Equalizer functions.

Thanks Skier, but it didn't work too. Same error. Tested in S*One/Cub**.
Anyway, with the functionality broken outside of Reaper I don't think I'll pursue this matter any longer. I'll just save up some money for Crave EQ.

This EQ is AWESOME! It should be incorporated into reaEQ!!! I find myself having to reach for neutron all the time, but it's such a CPU hog. reaEQ is ultra-light which is great, but it's missing a whole bunch of these steeper HPF and LPF filters.

Looks sweet!
I can't figure out how to load it into Reaper though. Am I putting the folder in the wrong place? It doesn't work in my standard vst file folder
Is there a step by step or something to show what I am doing wrong?

Maybe put this in the first post (in bold, in red, in a huge font, maybe also with a megaphone icon beside it, etc.) People are going to keep asking about this, it seems.

Thanks, and you're welcome.

Keyboard input is tricky in a JSFX like ReEQ. I've done several tests with it. There's no native data input so you have to program the input key by key. The problem there is that you have to set the JSFX to consume all keyboard input otherwise pressing [SPACE] for example will control Reaper playback. That's undesired when you're entering a number.

But doing that means that when ReEQ has focus, none of the keys you press will get through to the main Reaper UI - it doesn't feel right to me.

A compromise would be to pop up a digit entry UI widget for precise entry but still using the mouse. That's something I may look into at some point.

If Cockos added a pop-up input field to JSFX I'd add it straight away.

I'm looking for a spectrum analyser that will function on a whole item or track or a portion of it rather than providing an instantaneous updated display e.g an average or peak display covering a specific period -analyse the whole lot and give a display of it!

Can this be done with this one?
TIA

Plugins are unaware of what an item or track is, their length etc. They process the input as they receive it. What you're looking for is probably a script or action, although I don't know of one that does that specifically.

I guess if you enable peak display on Respectrum, it will capture the maximum peaks for the amount of time it received input. I'm not sure if that is what you mean though.
