Superwave VSTi plugins don't sound until they are opened
Hello. I've found a buggy behaviour with Superwave VSTi plugins into Reaper.
When i insert them on a track they sounds as expected, but everytime I open a saved project that uses them and then I play or render (online or offline) the track these plugins are silent. They start to sound only if i manually open them (i.e. i click on the fx chain then select the Superwave VSTI to display its interface).
I'm using last version of Reaper x64 on Win10 (i tried with ver 4.0 & 5.02 also, and the behaviour is the same). There is a workaround for that, like forcing them load or something like that? Because it's annoying to everytime manually load them in those projects that uses a lot of them. Thanks

Are you putting them in the regular vst location or as an input effect? You should have them as regular effects.
Easiest way to see if that is the case would be to click in the TCP and then right click.
Select "Insert v-instrument on new track" and you will be doing it exactly per the recommended procedure. If you still have the same issue when using it, there IS something weird happening.

vsti are in the regular vst directory, and i add them to the project simply by clicking "track" --> "insert virtual instrument on new track".

Good. Sorry I mis-quoted the actual wording but I was on my lappy, not the studio machine. Ah, well - onward and upward I guess.
Have you done a search online to see if there are any known issues with that superwave synth? I dont have any experience with them, but there is always a possibility that you are an early adopter, so possibly unreported probs with reaper.
This all sounds pretty odd.

I've been thinking about trying their fairlight emu....downloading the trial and will report back if it does the same....maybe this is to do with the fact they are 32bit plugs with an included bridge of some kind.

Saved projects with this vst are opening and sound is there after save and reopen without the need to open the plug.
But every sound has delay on it I can't get rid of...can't tell if this is intentional or a bug....they also recommend running DAW as admin as it's a synthedit plug which I'm not prepared to do

Had crossed my mind it might be a synthedit thang, Stella. I didn't notice anything about an included bridge, but that isn't going to help things, is it?
Shame if the OP really, really wants to use it.

I tried just now with the superwave fairlight emulator (wavelight vmi) and it works well. The problem occours with all the others, i tried d-909, p80, performer, professional, tarkus, tiny pops and trance pro.
Can you try to reproduce the bug using these?

Sorry no....not going to install a load of crud I don't need on my machine. Don't trust them to completely remove everything on uninstall.
Maybe try running them as separate or dedicated process to see if it helps.

i've just done a fresh reaper installation (also manually deleting every config file), then tried also all the different options in the reaper plugin-vst & plguin-compatibility preferences... nothing changed, major part of superwave plugins continue to have this buggy behaviour.

That's a shame.
I should also note to be fair to the developer the echo problem I had was 100% user error (I forgot to route my test project to my usual DAW channels on the mixer and I had a send to outboard FX active on the channel it was assigned.
So the VMI actually seems to work fine even without running as admin.

The demo still has a 21 day authorisation which won't come with just a dll.

fixed
Finally i've found the culprit: 64bit version of (almost all) Superwave VSTis use jbridge, that causes the aformentioned "no sound until vsti is displayed" problem in 64bit Reaper. Problem resolved simply switching to 32bit version of these plugins.
Glory and praise to Reaper internal bridge!

????
As Reaper features an internal bridge and does not need additional software such as JBridge, how did you even come to "see" same ?

Funny. Actually JBridge is not meant to be "used" by a VST out of the box, but added by the (non Reaper) DAW user to bridge between e.g. a 32 bit VST and a 64 Bit DAW,

Exactly this problem happening to me now with XLN audio XO. The audio from this plugin stops if the GUI is not open or record arm is "unarmed"!
I can open/close the plugin and the audio goes on and off. XLN support can't reproduce it and as you have this problem with another synth plugin it must be a bug with Reaper.

your plugins are 32 or 64bit? in my case, for made the Superwave VSTIs working, after switched them from 64 to 32bit I necessarily had to clear plugins cache and rescan them (from reaper settings).

I only use 64 bit. I have re-installed the plugin but the problem persists. This is a bug that needs to be fixed.

Try with 32 bit plugins then clear cache and rescan from reaper settings. If the problem if the same maybe also the cause could be the same, ...

That is exactly what it is! Good spot!! Strange that only XO does this and not one of my many other instruments.
