Default How to change Midi file channel?

Hi All

I have written a drum part in Guitar Pro 6 and exported to midi - when I do this, it saves to Channel 10.

When I bring the midi file into Reaper, I need to set Kontakt to Channel 10, else it doesn't play.

Is there a way within Reaper to either see what the midi output channel is, or change it?

Thanks in advance

You can see and edit the channel number in MIDI Editor using View/Event List (Alt-3). There are also "Set Events to Channel xx" actions that allow quick editing of multiple events.

Or you can use a different channel without editing the MIDI by putting JS MIDI Router/Transpose in FX before the VSTi that's playing the MIDI.

As a defalut drums is always on Midi channel 10, so with Kontakt or any VST that you want to play drums, you need to set it to channel 10.
But as Steve says.... (in other words there are ways around this).

I use Synthedit2 to change MIDI files to see the instrument names and set the track name to the instrument name. you could also put the MIDI track # within the name.

Now when I import the midi file into Reaper each tracked is named by the instrument and midi channel number if it is part of the name.
