Default Where is Reaper's config file(s) stored?

Where is the configuration file (Options: Preferences that contains midi instrument input listings, paths for projects, paths for VSTs, preferences, etc) for Reaper stored? This would be good to back up now and then along with of course Reaper projects/compositions, in case of a computer crash or Ransomware attack.

They are all in the resources path folder; Click [Options] and select "Show Reaper resource path ...."

Better, though is to Export the Configuration files from Reaper's Preferences >> General section.

Default Configuration Settings

I've had an unfortunate event happen and now I cannot open Reaper in order to Export my settings, etc. So, I'm hoping I can find where the settings are stored in the file folders on my Windows 10 machine...

Thank you in advance!

EDIT\ADDENDUM: ...and which ones would be the most important to keep\save?!? (I sound like a complete newb, I know...I've been "away" from Reaper, and my computer, for a while...I need refreshing) Thank you again.

You could check c:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\REAPER64\

If you can, save the whole Reaper folder with all the files and subfolders. But get at least all the .ini files at the root of that folder. All the others would depend on how much personal things have you added/saved and want to keep. E.g. Data, Effects, presets, ColorThemes, Track and Project templates etc.

Default Does a guide to REAPER.ini exist?

Hi Reaperites,

Is there any documentation written up that serves as a guide to the reaper.ini or any other config files for Reaper?

I ask as I'm trying to resolve a long-standing problem I have, in respect of Monitor FX not saving between Reaper sessions.

I'm running v6.68 on W10 and try to keep most aspects of the overall system regularly updated.

I like to use TC Electronics PolyTune VST in my Monitor FX path but I cannot keep it saved between sessions. It is my understanding that this should be the case?

Undertaking some analysis, I noticed that a portable copy of Reaper running Alex's ReAlive does indeed keep Monitor FX saved between sessions. In searched in the REAPER.ini file for this portable version and found a reference to monitor fx in a section [Reaper_video]. When checking in my permanent Reaper install, that REAPER.ini doesn't contain such as reference. I renamed this file and restarted Reaper to create a new .ini file, placed a VST in the monitor fx [once the project tab was there] saved and quit. Upon restart, no monitor fx.

So, can anyone point toward some resolution please?

Thanks in advance
