Default Action for show/hide TCP (track list)?

Hi, I'm trying to assign shortcut keys for Reaper to mimic FL Studio's fast and clean window management system.

I have F7 for toggle show midi editor,
F9 for toggle show mixer,
now I want to use F6 for toggle show track list, but I don't know what action to search for in the action list.

Toggle show/hide in TCP just hides a single track, not the whole tracklist.

How to do this please?

You can hide all the track control panels, if that's what you want, but the empty track panel area will still be there. If you want to get rid of that, double clicking on the right border of the track panel area is one fast way to do that...your cursor changes to horizontal double arrow when you're in correct spot to do that. You can also save that view as a new window screenset.

Thanks. I don't know what you mean. I want to be able show/hide the track list with one keystroke

Reaper User Guide v.6.26, page 18, The REAPER Screen. Could you point out what you mean by track list?

You don't need a picture, just tell us from that user guide page, what you want to hide. If you really want to use a picture, use a free image hosting like e.g. Imgur and post a link to that picture here. DarkStar has instructions for that here.

So the Track Control Panels & empty TCP area. Instructions for hiding that were already in post #2. Doesn't that work for you?

From what I understand you are saying that still is not "I want to be able show/hide the track list with one keystroke" - i.e. toggle with F5 to open close the panel, like I can with the mixer and midi editor

Drag or toggle the TCP area so it's not visible anymore. Save this as a new window screenset and assign a shortcut (Load key) you want for it.

You can hide/show track control panels like described above, regardless of mixer. What exactly doesn't work?

I WAS having similar trouble. Restarted Reaper, now it works and is great.

Open "View/Screensets/Layouts" from main menu. The first tab is 'Window screen sets', and the default load key is F7 (editable).

#1 for me is 'TCP', ie TCP visible. Save (Shift+F7) your current window as this, I left out all the cursor positions, etc. It'll prompt for a name.

Keep the Screenset window open.

Drag the TCP to the screen edge. (In my theme, there was still a bit visible till I full-screened, then it cleared).

Select #2 in the Screensets and save (Shift+F8) this as 'No TCP' or whatever.

Restart Reaper - none of this worked for me until I'd restarted, now F7 is TCP, F8 is No TCP.

EDIT: Obv, there's no toggle option in the default config. (I don't know if it's possible to use SWS Dummy Toggle in a custom action at all).

And what happens two hours later? Screensets stops working. Nothing changed, same configuration, just F7 doesn't work after restart. And can't be redone. All other F-commands work. Bug?, or Windoze?

It's working again. Is it project-specific? No, it works on another project. Very annoying, may not be Reaper.

I've got 12 projects on the go, it now works in all of them, fingers crossed. Also tried it with a 2-year old project, works. All I did was use the procedure I posted above about three times. Oh, and one reboot in between.

Will flag if it stops again.

I think I've sussed it.

In the Screensets window you want two slots - TCP and No TCP.

DOUBLE-click on the TCP slot so it shows bold and selected. This loads that set, whatever it is. Make sure your TCP is visible as you want it, then click 'Save'. The name makes no difference, just the slot. Don't close the window.

Now double-click the 'No TCP' slot. The slot should now show bold. Whatever the TCP state, make sure it's NOT visible and save to the (bold) No TCP slot.

The confusion is in making sure the slot is 'loaded' before it's saved, otherwise you just get a carbon copy in each slot. Or something.

When saving, you need to have 'Tool windows' checked, (which means you'll want to have the Actions window, etc at your preferred size, even if not visible).

Finally I found that I have to have F8 as the TCP and F7 as No TCP otherwise there's no TCP on startup. There has to be a screen set toggle script or custom action somewhere.

HTH.

Ah, right. I've got the mixer on another screen.
