Image editor for Mac that works on Snow Leopard?

Every single image editor I have tried for Snow Leopard can't get the colors right. Every time you copy and paste or cut something, the whole image brightens slightly. Using the eye dropper tool always gives me a color that is slightly brighter than the actual color I'm eye dropping.

Is there anything out there that is free that works properly under 10.6.2? All I'm trying to do is create one additional button for the Blended theme that was added after the theme was created and I am failing miserably.

Thanks this is great! Not free but it seems like the demo is working out alright for me. Will have to remember to buy this if I need something again later.

I got my copy through one of the Macheist deals.
I've seen it offered in other bundles as well.
