Default [FM Funk] Funk Happens

Made using Reaper 5. A cooperative effort by Jakim and myself. It's a funky tune using lots of FM/subtractive synth and guitars.

I like this Mordi, it has a good sound to it and I think it's really well done.

There are a few places where I think a more realistic instrument would have worked better. Actually, even if you gave some of the instruments and places I'm talking about some decent vibrato, it would have helped.

Other than that, I think maybe some key changes might have helped. A track like this can get a little boring after a while. Think Weather Report.

EDIT: I really liked the guitar part that at least sounded like it was Free Form. It added a lot.

What synths were you using to get this sound? Reminds me of the "smooth jazz" FM radio station I listened to in the 80s, coming home from work on the bus.

Nice lead sound, very nice overdrive-chorus sounding (also a big part of the 80s).

Jakim used a lot of Native Instrument's FM8, but the majority of the sounds are patches I've cobbled up in u-he Zebra 2. It also has a lot of guitar playing the background and foreground, blending in with the synths.
