Default izotope RX (standalone) and un-trimming items

Hi everyone,

I'm working on a documentary film that has multiple interviews.

The clips all need some sort of restoration, which I do using RX.

Each source file is a long interview (60 minutes each), but the clips used in the project are only a minute here and there. Just to be clear, I have for example:

Interview 1 source file on disk is 120 mins

In the project, items 1, 6, 12, 15, 27, and 30 all clips of Interview 1, scattered throughout the project, totaling 10 minutes

In this particular case, I want to use RX in standalone mode.

But I don't want to RX the entire file because that would needlessly create another huge file (120 mins long, when all I need are 10 minutes).

MY PROBLEM:

I normally use "open copy in external editor"
But doing so gets rid of the ability to un-trim each item (which I need for crossfading)

Tips?
