I believe Ian uses SynthEdit so that would explain it - try changing the checkboxs in the VST prefs - maybe changing the "better buggy processReplacing" or "Don't flush" (ewww!) settings will help.

Hey guys there is something missing from this reaper forum,issues dealing with and related to DXi's,pretty much so far all of my vst and vsti are working properly, now the same problem has started with some DXi's I got.What do y'all think.

I can't get the Ogun (image-line) vsti to load properly in Reaper.
During the scan I get this error:


After the scan the plugin can not be found in the Fx list.
Might as well say that it works fine when using Xlutop Chainer.

i have come across problems with Genesis and Mile's Tome trumpet plug. both of these tend to make reaper baulk and jump straight out.

also, what is the deal with certain vsti's/vst's 'flashing' during playback? only generally if you have the FX window open?

it's mainly with the free stuff, possibly the ones made with synthedit. not sure

Hi - Posted this already in the Bug Forum, but maybe this is more appropriate. I've been trying to use the demo for Absolute Piano. Stand alone mode seems to load fine. But, when I try to introduce an instance of it as a VSTi I get a Runtime Error message:

"This application [ie, Reaper] has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information."

At this point, the audio settings in Reaper are locked up so I have to reboot the computer to reset eveything. Is this user error, or a bug?

I've been trying the Proteus VX freeware for the past couple of weeks and I'm getting the same runtime error. I have removed Proteus from my system, but I am still getting the error message. I have removed any instances of Proteus from my current project but still get the error. I did a system restore to 4 weeks ago - way before I installed Proteus....still the runtime error. Now I wonder, if Proteus is a plug on an older project which is NOT LOADED, will Reaper still see it there and could this be causing the runtime error?

I got runtime errors using "spatial reverb" (don't remember which one of the 3 versions). Deleted them all.

"Tascam's CV Piano" wants to be handled with care, too, and behaves bitchy very often.

Something else I've discovered - I can load Absolute Piano in a new project with no trouble. Perhaps there's a conflict somewhere with another plug already in the existing project.

I hope this is helpful but do you really have to go as far as rebooting the 'puter? Just suggesting you hit Cntrl Alt Del to bring up the Taskmanager then kill off processes (eg Reaper) and restart them. You can often see the offender at this point as it is showing strange behaviour in Taskmanager.

Personally I am using Process Explorer. It is from the same band at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s...s/default.aspx
but a better piece of kit; more comprehensive.

I now find it very very rare that I have to reboot short of a hardware meltdown.

I have troubles with the soundfont.it plugins. reaper freezes when loading then, and then freezes again when changing patchs...

like deadalus.... freeze at start and freeze when changing patch... Crystal synth acts the same but is freezing reaper long enough to generate an error from materverb (not responding because waiting for too much time)...

it seems that all "donationware" plugins are freezing reaper here...

This is again one of the SynthEdit issues. All of the awesome (I really love them!) simulations from soundfonts.it are SE plugins and have these varying little quirks on some computers, but not on others. So this has nothing to do with free- or donationware.

Every time I load Reaper, I get the error box/es pop up regarding Wusik 4.
I don't care if I can't get it to work in Reaper.....But is there any way to stop these pop up boxes as Reaper loads?

Except:

Absynth 3: When using unison mode, oscillators all sync and make a hideous phasing sound, even if I check "don't flush on stop". Granted, it's not the end of the world, I can just play a few notes with the volume fader all the way down.

Reaktor 5: Massive freeze-ups of the GUI when running numerous, large instances(even well below max CPU). The entire Reaper-wide GUI freezes when trying to move knobs with the mouse(generally not affecting audio output). When the GUI freezes, the mouse cursor can still move, but it can't move any virtual knobs until the GUI unfreezes after a few seconds, nor does attempting to move a knob modulate the sound accordingly. Unchecking "better buggy replace..." cuts the frequency of this happening in half or so, "reduce denormal", "don't flush" and the others seem not to have any effect. FWIW, this seems to be Reaper specific, I never encountered this in Cubase 1,2 and 3 with Reaktor 4 or 5.

All Guido's payware (and some newer freeware) plugins are coded in C++, actually. I extensively use his GS-201 and WatKat delays in Reaper, no problems at all.

Hi there,

This is a shot in the dark (only because I was only a handful of people to purchase this plug before it was pulled for legal reasons) but my Nomad Factory Retro E-4Tone doesn't work. It's "little brother" E-3Tone works perfectly.

Unfortunately, I use this plug on everything I do, as I really like the way it colors the sound. It's kind of like Chandlers' Abbey Road Mastering EQ plug set, only I didn't have to mortgage my house to buy it.

Anyway, if you have any ideas as to how to get this plug back up and running (it still works in Cubase Studio 4), please let me know!

It's still not working in neither 2.53 or 2.54 in Windows, but strangely works fine in Wine.

Reaper crashes when I use codeaudio's Beatburner. The crashes mostly occur when beatburner has to read previously recorded automation data. Playing it and writing automation works, reading the recorded automation doesn't. In Reaper Beatburner either doesn't read the automation correctly; or it does but then crashes after a few seconds. It makes reaper crash, not freeze.

I have no problem running Linplug's Free Alpha, it is a damn fine synth from a well known and respected developer. However I have had one problem since Reaper 1x right through to alpha 2. That is Free Alpha seems to forget where the heck the patch banks live

First time I installed and loaded into Reaper all was fine, now every time I use this synth the patch banks are all "empty" bit annoying

Anyone else had this, or have a work-around or anything?

BTW no I didn't install it into the default program files steinberg vst directory

MHC Synthesizers and Effects Industrial Tones 1.5 vsti keeps resetting to a preset named (sub steel) on project open.Very annoying.Using Reaper 2.58,and problem also occurs in the latest reaper 3 beta7.Software Technology VAZ Modular 3.0.4 dxi freezes then crashes reaper.Big Tick Rainbow 2.5 crashes when removing it in reaper versions 3.0 to 3.04 so far but doesen't with 2.58.

Some banks for SC Drums DX-200 2.0 won't make any sound.

PowerFX Hütkins 1.0 crashes reaper 3.06 completely when trying to load a FXP or FXB,reapers bank loader that is,and also has a very very long start up,Im talking maybe a whole minute.Reaper 3.06 also doesen't bring up the plug CacoFX ChordME 1.4.2.

I recently took part in a huge sale and purchased:

-Storm Drum2
-EWQL Symphonic Orchestra
-Ministry of Rock
-EWQL Symphonic Choirs W/ VOTA
-Quantum Leap Pianos...

These ^^^ all have 32bit and 64bit plug-ins

Before the update, the PLAY engine would be recognized
in the plug-ins folder by Reaper (32bit version)

My PC runs Vista Ultimate 64-bit...

After the update (1.2.5) Reaper 32bit no longer sees the 32bit plug-in
anymore, and I can't play any of them?

Any thoughts as to what I can do?
If I load 64bit Reaper, sure it works, however I'm unable to load another
instance of the PLAY engine, AND my other plug-ins are rendered useless as they're all 32bit plug-ins...

Any help would be so nice and appreciated.

Golden Aset (http://www.artvera-music.com/) does work fine with 3.11 version with one exception. I have several sound banks, and whenever I tried to load another bank, Reaper crashes, so that I get that little box up that asks if you want to send a report to MS.

I initially tried to load another bank as I was tracking when it crashed, but then it did it again with Reaper idled (had to test).

Other than that, staying on the same bank, it worked great. Maybe it's a setting I have that is the issue....?
