[Solved] Plugin Alliance Plugins Can't Find Presets

Has anyone managed to get Plugin Alliance (I've tried Pro Audio DSM v3 and Dear Reality dearVR MUSIC) to work?

DSM v3 works, but I can't load or save presets and dearVR MUSIC refuses to start because it can't find important files and tells me to reinstall (which doesn't help)

The install places all the file in the wine Temp directory which is odd. I've tried copying them to the locations suggested here, but it didn't help: https://www.plugin-alliance.com/en/d...s/presets.html

I figure it out!

For dearVR MUSIC the files from

wine/drive_c/users/held/Temp/dearVR music/

go to

wine/drive_c/ProgramData/DearReality/dearVRVSTPlugin/

And for DSM v3 the files from

.wine/drive_c/users/held/Temp/Pro Audio DSP DSM V3/

go to

.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Plugin Alliance/Pro Audio DSP DSM V3/

I found the directories by running

strace -f -o reaper.trace /path/to/reaper/binary

After reaper started, open the problematic plugin and try to save a preset or whatever is causing problems. Then close reaper and check the file 'reaper.trace' from the back for attempted file access. Searching for the plugin or manufacturer name often does the trick.

Once you know what paths the plugin tries to access, you can copy the corresponding files there.
