Default How to create a short midi loop

I been using Reaper for a while now, but I can never figure out how to do this easily:

Let's say I have a midi drum track. I want to select a part of the track and then put that to a new track as a midi loop - so that when I drag the end of the item to the right it starts the loop again and keeps looping it as I drag.

I know this has to do with setting the start and end point of the item but I can never seem to get it corret.

Please help.

-- set the Time Selection around the part that you want to copy
-- right-click >> Copy loop of selected area of itmes (or Ctrl+Alt+L)
-- new track (Ctrl+T)
-- paste (Ctrl+V), drag out as desired

Hi!

I can't get this to work.
When I try to right-click >> Copy loop of selected area of itmes (or Ctrl+Alt+L)

I get the following error :
Loop copy warning
Note : 1 of 1 items selected could not be made into loops, since they already looped in the selection range.

But there's no loop at all in the selection range.
See screenshot.

Can you help ?
thanks
