[5.96] Error opening MIDI devices
Each time I run Reaper, I get this error (see the attachment).
It cannot open MIDI ports ...
But ports are, instead, correctly active and working.
I got this issue since the previous version of Reaper and I was hoping it was solved with the present one. But: no ... it still up there

It's a new feature. REAPER now remembers old (no longer present) MIDI devices and optionally warns if they aren't connected.
Either forget these devices in Preferences > MIDI Devices or disable the new warning.

Wish I could.
I really wish I could disable them but there does not appear to be any way. There are several devices (for everything I have ever used over the years and some have three exclamation marks or odd symbols in front of them but there is no way to delete any of them. If I open other audio programs such a Studio One, I see a list of actual current devices and these other devices do not appear. Im digging for a Reaper midi ini file that maybe I can erase.

Right click on the device and select "Forget device".

Thanks but that doesn't work.
Thank's for your help. I know that page well and have added and deactivated devices countless in the past. That page is not working correctly though and I have no option to delete any of the device. It only gives me a config pop up.

Finding and deleting reaper-midihw.ini did the trick for me. Hope this helps someone else.

That config dialog is shown on double click. The option to forget a device is shown on right click. It's in the context menu, not in the config dialog.

yep, that didn't work
Yes, I realize that but as I said, it (right click) didn't work. I posted what fixed it for me. Now it works as expected and I can once again delete devices. Thanks again for your help.

The problem is: no one of the devices was ever disconnected and/or uninstalled.
