[5.980] Infinite freewheel when syncing to LTC timecode through APP
Hi Reaper fellows !
I have encountered a bug with the "External timecode synchronization" feature, when trying to slave Reaper to an incoming LTC signal with the "ASIO Positioning Protocol" option.
I am using a Digigram VX882e soundcard, which has a dedicated LTC input that I use through the APP feature.
Synchronizing and chasing works perfect, but when the incoming signal stops, instead on stopping in "Waiting for TC" mode, Reaper's transport goes on freewheel infinitely until manually stopped.
If I use a regular Analog input instead of the LTC input, this problem does not occur.
Steps to reproduce :
- Use a soundcard with an ASIO 2.0 driver and a dedicated LTC input
- Plug an LTC generator to the dedicated LTC input, and feed the same signal to a regular Analog input
- Stop the LTC generator
- Stop Reaper's playback
- Slave Reaper's transport to the APP input with the "Start playback on valid timecode when stopped" option activated
- Start the LTC generator
==> Reaper should start the playback, chasing LTC
- Stop the LTC generator
==> Reaper should continue playing without ever stopping
- Stop Reaper's transport
==> Reaper should remain stopped as the LTC generator is stopped too
- Start the LTC generator
==> Reaper should restart the playback, chasing LTC
- Stop the LTC generator
- Stop Reaper's playback
- Slave Reaper's transport to your Analog input instead of APP input, keep the "Start playback on valid timecode when stopped" option activated
- Start the LTC generator
==> Reaper should start the playback, chasing LTC
- Stop the LTC generator
==> Reaper's transport should stop in "Waiting for TC" mode
- Stop Reaper's transport
==> Reaper should remain stopped as the LTC generator is stopped too
- Start the LTC generator
==> Reaper should restart the playback, chasing LTC
Hint : you can use another Reaper machine to generate LTC... :-)
OS : Windows 10 Pro-N x64
Reaper : v5.980/x64
Soundcard : Digigram VX882e
Thanks for the awesome software.
