It's the next box up in that page in prefs,,(Veritcal) for me I've got it to place mouse on the item hold Ctrl& roll wheel expands track vertical & just roll wheel over item expands horizontal!.

Ah thanks got it now, 'Last selected track' is what I needed.
Appreciate your help, it was becoming very frustrating.
