Default September 2022 song from 41TWIN.....

As usual, comments on the mix are totally welcomed. Still sounds best in headphones but trying to work at getting my song to sound good in the car, other stereos, etc.

It's kinda hard and edgy and has a not so secret message in it.....

Wonderful!...shambolic garage rock (geddit?) awash with car puns - I love it! (oh, and I see now why you want to get this to sound good in the car)

Seriously, I love the riffs and creativity here. Even the slightly disconcerting left-channel-heavy vocals sound like the driver is singing (in the US, that is - here we drive on the correct side of the road!)

Great stuff!

THANKS MAN!!! That means a lot coming from you. I about pooped my pants when i heard your last song on how good it is. I got a long way to go on how to make a mix sound that good.

Hopefully the heart of the songs come through my "lo-finess" people keep telling me I do. lol.

I had guitar on right and it was like u know bringing the high mids. so i had the vocals in the middle and left a lot to balance. but the driving position works too. lol.

I appreciate the encouragement. Thank you! I thought my drummer did a bang up job.

Nice, dry and minimalist. Who needs more.
Few elements that work pretty well and fit each other.
Greetings!

I heard a saying here that you should avoid cars starting with F: Fords, Fiats and the French ones

(in the alt version: Fffolksvagens)

Not a car person anyway. Kudos for natural sound, altough I'm traditionally not big on mixes with lopsided pannings("low fi ness" probably means you actually sound like a band, not a guy with a computer lol).

This is great. Straight ahead rock, with some cool changes. Love the vibe. Sounds great, too.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the feedback and encouragement.

Just a bit of a defender of my choices for panning. I totally get if it is not your thing. But technically I don't think it is overly lopsided. the levels on both sides were pretty close. The guitar is like 40% right and bass was 40% left. I left the guitar lows in and i think the bass and guitar are high passed within 10hz of each other. like 80 on bass and 90 on guitar. something like that. so they pretty much balance each other out. obviously the guitar has a bit more high mids so thats why i panned the 2nd vocal left. And there is a third and fourth vocal on the right but they are a bit lower in the mix til the bridge.

And yeah, i dont necessarily always do it, but mostly i like to have it sound like if someone was watching us play. My drummer and i mostly are playing instruments. there are a few midi sounds here and there, like the lightning sound. My drummer does that stuff. its usually like oddball noises. although he just got a macbook and dl'd a bunch of midi sounds so who knows where thats gonna go. but we basically are just playing our instruments. if he wasnt so busy we would likely record some things together (same time, same room)but we used to play a LOT in the 90s, before sending files back and forth. so our frame of reference is mostly playing live together. i think im trying to keep that vibe to a degree. mostly. lol.

recording is soooooooo much better for not having studio money in these times. yaaaay.

I like it. Nice and tight and minimal. Reminded me of Shellac with a bit of Wire. A def compliment.
