Default James Bond "The World Is Not Enough", with video..

I entered a contest to produce and record a James Bond movie theme. I picked "The World Is Not Enough" because it's in my wife's vocal range.

So here is what I came up with, does it sound James Bond to you?

I decided to put it to the original James Bond Video that Peterk312 turned me onto below. It's not a perfect match, but close enough to show just to my friends. I also remixed it.

Hey Tod, great job with this! Very nicely done - I think you captured the overall vibe really well.

On a technical note, I found there was a bit of a resonance peak happening in the vocals somewhere around 5-6k that becomes quite pronounced when the vocals are double-tracked in the chorus. I think maybe some dynamic eq or multi band compression might help tame those resonances if it were targeted in that area.

Overall, top job!

Not bad,not bad at all..everything seems to fit and plays out nicely.

Ooops, very good interpretation. Instrumentation, style of playing
- and finally the vocals - all come together very well. Does it
sound like the James Bond song? Not quite the same, but with its
own character and feel. Well done!

Thanks fHumble fHingaz, yeah I'm aware of that problem, it's been a hard one to deal with. I might have another go at it though, especially since you mentioned it.

Thanks Reapology, did it really sound like that?

Thanks enroe and yeah, I actually purposely made it a little different, because I want it to fit in my wife's song portfolio. The original was a little harsh and too much of a movie song.

Vocal is superb. Really like how you doubled it on the chorus.

Nice gritty guitar like in the original tune.

But my favorite part of your arrangement is the strings. And that harp sound. Just masterfully done.

Made me want to go to the original. Very freaky video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPU1FzzXt1U

Your version is more mellow. The original version has more drama going on. Heavier drums. Vocal is more sleazy. I like the cymbal crashes. But I think you nailed the strings really well compared to the original.

Contest? You likely got a good shot at winning.

Your wife has a special tone in her voice. I like it!
I would prefer less doubling/processing, more clean if possible.
Great production as always.

Wow, ha ha, I've got that soundtrack but I've never seen the video. I wanted to find it to maybe use it with my recording, but like you said, too freaky.

Yeah I could have gone for the original sound but I wanted it to work well with my wife's vocal as well as her song portfolio, not so harsh.

Based on the ones that have been turned in so far, there's a good chance.

Thank you much Peter, for your kind words and bringing up that video. I might try using it just for fun with friends and family.

Thank you Mikael, I'll tell Cheryl you said that.

The main reason for the doubling is because it's close the top of my wife,s vocal range, but I'd probably have doubled it anyway, to try and capture the emotional power of the chorus. (There's a better term for it)

Again thank you Mikael, for your critique.

Nice. I think maybe the lows (mainly the bass) need to be tamed. The guitar sounds flat. And the snare in the verse has too much reverb.
But amazing overall with great voice and strings.
Greetings and good luck.

Thanks LCM for your listen and suggestions. I did remix it and took a little of the lows off as well as took a little verb off the sidestick.

I also put it to the original James Bond Video, it's not a perfect match, but close enough to show just to my friends.

Thumbs up from me. Top job indeed. The vocals have character. Funny how Bond themes have become a musical genre in itself.

Thank you Barry, that means a lot, there have been a few on VIP who have expressed that as well. VIP was where the contest was held.

Thanks Jorgen, and yeah, when the contest started and I started checking I was amazed at what was out there.

I picked 'The World Is Not Enough" because it was in my wife's range.

Thanks again for the kind words.

That was very nice to listen and see!

I think it's great you recorded yourselves. It makes easier to see the effort you put in it and, on the other hand, you seem a wonderful family!

Great job.
