v5.979 not obeying crossfade settings?

when splitting an item i'm getting crossfades whether i have the crossfade toolbar button active or not. is that right?

Crossfade on split is not governed by the crossfade toolbar button, it's a separate setting / actions:

Options: Disable auto-crossfade on split
Options: Enable auto-crossfade on split
Options: Toggle auto-crossfade on split
