Default Plugin FX windows always on top

Hello,

is there a possibility to turn off the feature, that the plugin FX windows are always on top. I would like to hide them when I click on the main window of Reaper. It's quite annoying to close the windows all the time I want to get back to the main window.

* bump *

Any help? It is really annoying that the plug-in windows are always on top covering my main window even when I click somewhere on the main Reaper window. Is it possible to turn it off?

I posed the same question last week... no dice I'm afraid. Unless I'm mistaken?

This definitely should be solved since it is quite annoying to close/open the FX Plugings all the time and besides it would be awesome to use OSX's ability to use App Expose when working with multiple plugins at the same time. Definitely a feature request!

To make things less annoying, try to use the shortcut for "Show/hide all floating windows".

OPT-CMD-F on OS X. (On my system, I have also used BetterTouchTool to map a three finger swipe up/down on the touchpad to that shortcut, to make it even easier.)

Thanks for the tip. Actually that's exactly how I solved this today except I used different touchpad action in BetterTouchTool. Now it is quite ok but still it would be nice to have it fixed so you just click next to the plugin to get to the main window.

Not to mention it would be nice to use the App Expose feature as I wrote in my previous post. Would make the workflow really awesome.

Tried the 11(!)-finger(?) tap yet?

Yeah. It does not work well with Spaces either...

EDIT: Totally misread the OP. Yeah you can make plug-in windows hide under other windows by unchecking the pin on the top right corner. Unpinned should be the default position for the windows. I'm actually having problems with the plugins getting buried under other windows, but then again I'm working with a floating mixer that always goes on top of unpinned plugins. Maybe you should look into that if you need this kind of behavior.

I have noticed this, but on my system it happens on almost every window including the FX and Mixer windows, even if they are unpinned. And some other windows (such as the routing window) disappear when I click on other windows, while I would expect them to move to the background since I did not click on the red "close window" circle.

The pinning / unpinning doesn't help at all with this issue.

You could try undocking the mixer.

8 years later it's still irritating AF. The only difference is now we say "AF".

Yes please, one floating FX window that always stays afloat would be fantastic!

I love Reaper, but this is possibly my biggest irk with it!! LOL

Strange...every other DAW I've tried has the option to have plugin windows always on top. Obviously there's an issue with coding which I know nothing about, but really wish this could be fixed...

What bugs me is that I like to save my project often with command-S. But if I happen to do this after bringing up FX with it sticking on top, then it's always going into the "save Fx chain..." window and not simply saving the project i.e. redirecting keystrokes to the main window. Very annoying.

Default how to switch to focus arrange when plugin window is focussed

I assigned this to a hot key as it happens all the time unless you save window sets with the correct focus.
The action is called : _S&M_WNMAIN (focus main window)

Default Fx window focus

Or - try this:

https://youtu.be/wntJ-dB3s-c

Once your hot keys stay in focus on the arrange page, you can construct actions that toggle and save a hot key...
