Default OS X MIDI reset never works in Reaper, have to use Logic Pro X

Hi

Reaper doesn't recognise the MIDI ports on my Fireface 400, neither does Cubase. This happens all the time and the only solution that works is to fire up Logic Pro X and reset the midi devices from the MIDI menu. This always works but is a bit annoying.

So does anyone know a solution to this or any suggestions i might try?
I'm on OS X maverick 10.9.5, latest Reaper, Logic 10.2

Kind regards
Jonas

Reaper 5.963/64, FF400 on El Capital here...

Same thing happens. Reaper does find the audio part automagically when the FF400 isn't connected when I open Reaper. I just click "Retry" when the message appears that the interface couldn't be found.

MIDI ports, however only on the second try. That's a bit weird, isn't it?

Yes very weird. Ok so you have El Capitan, then it's probably not my OS version thats the culprit.

So could be a RME driver issue perhaps?

If it is an RME driver issue, then why can Logic solve it?

Dear reader...

After updating the driver to latest version my problem seems fixed.

Nothing to see here

I don't know why it worked in logic. It's not logical at all.

But after updating the driver I tried unplugging the power supply and then plugging it again, that makes the MIDI drivers missing come up and then I could just click retry, no problem, no logic workaround.

I'll report back if the problem continues.

Cyrano, maybe you should try updating your driver too if it's not already up to date?

You mean the RME driver?

I'm on 3.35. Just checked. 3.36 is the latest.

Anyhow, have no MIDI devices hooked up atm. Testing other stuff, so it's no biggie.

You're welcome.

IIRC, 3.35 to 3.36 was a small MIDI fix. Don't quote me on that tho, my memory isn't as reliable as it used to be...
