Default vocals input fx creates 1 second delay

i have input fx on the vocal track and i want to hear it back in real time...but there's a delayed signal from the vocal

i think its because my project is getting busy?

any way i can fix this so i can hear the vocal with the input fx in real time (rather than with 1 second delay)

Somewhere in your project after the vocal is a plugin delaying everything with look-ahead. This will bottle-neck all monitoring. Likely, you have a master track limiter or something. That's the usual cause for me.

What input fx? If this fx has that much latency then there is no way around it.

If the latency is cause by plugs on the master buss or on a sub group you should route the vocal to avoid the group (and put master plugs on a pre master group so you can route around it)

Classic latency which will happen if you add a vox FX during tracking. There is a work around to this which is explained in one of the Kenny Gioia videos. You can either do that or use an audio interface that can use its own dsp to add a vox FX such as reverb or delay which you can monitor direct using the interface software (eg, Console in UAD Apollo series interfaces).

Usually it's "comfort" reverb added to vox during tracking. Such FX are best used in a send/return configuration rather than insert.

Use the video tutorials and you'll probably get an acceptable result.

Good luck.
