Default manually render a subproject with a save.

There's a nice action:

File: Save project and render RPP-PROX

But I would like:

File: Render RPP-PROX (without save).

Why? I have a batch script that re-renders projects if the project file has been modified since the last render. This works great for re-generating mp3, wav files etc. But I also want to regen the RPP-PROX file at the same time and "File: Save project and render RPP-PROX" changes the modification date of the project file. So the next time I run my batch file it (unnecessarily) re-renders the project!

thanks!

Which render settings are used in this case*?

For example I want to render (almost always) only the time selection. Does this default to the entire project? (I guess this is the case probably.) This can be problematic if you are using tools like hackey trackey and hackey patterns, where items are placed in a very late time in arrange, thus this would count as part of the "project" which should not, thus in such situations you need variants, limiting to a time selection for example. But maybe there are already "render RPP-PROX in time selection" variants.

* File: Save project and render RPP-PROX

IIRC the RPP-PROX are rendered according to "=START" and "=END" markers in the subproject timeline.

How you found out this information? Any screenshots? Or example .RPP? I never used a "subproject timeline" I guess, or do not know what it is?

Just create 8 bars of music in subproject, but insert those markers at e.g bar 3 and 5.
then main project will request re-rendering of subproject and only this part will be rendered. If you move markers to different part in subproject, e.g. bar 7 and 9, then different 2 bar piece will reappear in main project

Try it for yourself as I cannot verify right now but played with this some time ago.

the markers mus be named exactly this way:
=START
=END
This defines exactly which part of the project is "active".

EDIT: I just tried it again here and confirming that it works like that flawlessly.

Thanks, I go in the other direction, saving as new project, performing there. see https://forum.cockos.com/showthread....65#post2501365

I should dive into the subprojects maybe a bit, but not sure how and where they can be useful in practice? I want to perform usually a section I like so far, for what I created the script linked above. (Imagine like a scene in Ableton Live). You can have as many scenes as you want. Yeah. All with their performances (live-recorded automations).

Can multiple tab opened projects share the same memory, if they are using exactly same fx all? That would be very handy for the "perform scene" lua script. Open 50 scenes, in new tabs, and would be no problem, if they are sharing same fx and Reaper can understand this?
