Default Sputnik - Live it or lump it?

Has anyone heard, used, owns M-Audio Sputnik?
I've heard good things about it... just wondering.

Hi Tallisman,
Haven't had a chance to hear the Sputnik. I've used the Luna and Solaris and they were both Ok. They had a kinda muddy high end that sounded good on male vocals but not over all useful for other things I've tried them on. For budget mics I still prefer Studio Projects, Rode and ADK (no relation) microphones.

thanks for the reply... I have used the luna and the solaris and that is what led me to asking about Sputnik - it's reviews have got my attention, whereas it's siblings leave me wanting.. I am not crazy bout the studio projects - they seem to disagree with my voice. I currently have a Rode NT1000 and an Apex435... lordy I miss my tlm103!

I have Studio Projects C-series mic, and with their valve preamp it sounds really fantastic. Also I'm using a StarQuad cable, which makes more than 50% of the sound But of course if I had more money, I'd buy U87 or a Brauner .
