Carla Patchbay
I searched around in here and on the net and can't find the info I'm looking for, which is . . .
Can you save the patchbay routing in Carla? I figured out how to get it to work as a stand alone host, but it loses the midi and audio routing every time I close it. Starting it back up requires me to connect audio and midi back up before I can select an instrument and play it. I just want to be able to pop open Carla, load some VSTi plugin and start jamming around without having to lace it back up for audio and midi every time. EDIT: Also, I am using ALSA and do not have JACK installed. REAPER is working so well with ALSA I don't want to risk screwing it up by installing JACK either. It seems to work fine here, but i save all from all sides :
- In Carla, 'export as': save the project inside Carla - In Reaper, I save the track as track template, save the fxchain and save the preset in the fx window (once patch is done). When I reload, all connections are called back. PS: I use jack, but i don't think it's matter. |

Not saving any patchbay routing here with the standalone 2.0 from here,
https://kx.studio/Applications:Carla using ALSA and with no JACK installed. I downloaded the developer version and compiled it, but it would even run, throwing out python errors about missing things. FalkTX has a command to download all possible dependencies, and that is where I stopped and said f**k this! I'm not going to install 15 packages that might hose my perfectly working DAW and REAPER! Guess I'll just live with having to attach the left and right audio outputs and midi input every single time I use it stand alone. |
