Default Recording Bass with an older Sansamp DI

Hello All,
I have a sansamp bass driver DI, one of the older original ones.
It has a 1/4 inch output, an XLR output and a parallel output.
I want to use it to record bass direct.
I am using a motu 828x interface that has 2 built in preamps and 8 additional inputs without preamps.
I am running the parallel output into a preamp channel to get an unaffected direct signal, and my question is what is the best way to record the affected output of the sansamp for lowest noise and best sound. Should I use the 1/4 inch or xlr out and should I run it into a preamp or can I go straight to the inputs without a preamp?
Thanks for any assistance!
John

Just try all the different ways you can think of and use the one that sounds best, you can't break anything

My first guess is you may want to enable the "1/4 boost" if going into a line in, or the "XLR pad" if going into a mic input - looking at the unit, I think that's what those two buttons are for.

You can use it as line level, because its already a pre-Amp, or you can XLR out of Sansamp and direct to Motu pre, XLR In. Either way will work.
I normally prefer using the mic pre go get some extra saturation if needed.
Hope it helped.
