Default Help reaper Windows 10 Error

I'm new to reaper and have an error on opening and closing reaper now .
Error is c:/users/username/app data/roaming/ reaper/project files. Can't find files, however I save my project files to an external hard drive and created sub folders for audio and peak files per the users manual.

Why is reaper looking for files in the app data path?

I have to go to windows explorer and find my project and open from there at times.

Help

Default Can you check a couple of settings ?

Don't have an answer for you but maybe we can explore some possibly relevant settings:

What is your current values for:

1) Options - Preferences - General - Path - Default path to save new projects ?

And for 2) File - ProjectSettings - MediaTab - Path to save media files ?

3) Lastly, if you save a project with: File - Save Project As ...
and you select your external drive location, does your project end up where you expect ?

Default Reaper Windows 10 Open, Close, Create Error

Current values are:

1. Options - Preferences - General - Path - I:/projects (external drive)

2. File - ProjectSettings - MediaTab - Audio (mysub-directory)

3. I do a Save Project As, my project ends up where you expect to be saved in my project folder on the external drive and a subfolder for my media files and peak files I selected in settings.

However, it is very strange that when I open, close, and create I get this......
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Reaper Error.

There was an error opening the project:

C:\users\user_name\appdata\roaming\Reaper\Projectf iles

Don't know whether you still have the problem, but if you have, here's what I think:

The paths you listed in your last post look Ok, don't think it's due to them.

You could have a look through your Reaper.ini file with a text editor, just to see if there are any paths pointing to your C drive.

Lastly, one method that should avoid that type of problem altogether, is if you install Reaper as a "portable" install (tick box on the install screen). Same functions, same software, but all the config and ini files are stored in one directory, which you can actually copy to any location you like. And you can still store your project files on an external disk, and load existing projects.

In any event. tell us if you have fixed your problem doing something specific, so we can all learn.

Default Help windows 10 reaper error.

I still have the problem, however when the error occurs I can cancel out and the correct external drive save option appears, then I can save to the correct location.

If and when I find a fix for this error condition I will share with everyone.

Thank you for your suggestions.
