Default Problems recording guitar

Hi folks

Im a self confessed newbie to Reaper. Ive had a few goes on it and am fine with importing wav samples and the general feel of things. I like the layout (all on one page) Im use to working with Kristal, which is very good in its simplicity but it cant manage loops.

Anyway, my problem was trying to add a guitar track from a line in. I was getting an error message along the lines of "no tracks set up to record". I think I may have to "arm" it or something but not sure? The previous time I had no problem.

I tried the search feature on this site but it came up with about 100 posts. If anyone could perhaps point me in the right direction I would be much appreciative.

thanks

Right click on the ARM button and select the input you wish to record.

Press the ARM button on the track you wish to record to

Hit Record and record track.

If you look around at the reaper wiki there's some nice quick start guides there on how to set everything up.

Hi,

The manual has loads of great stuff that should answer any questions you have. It can be found here http://www.cockos.com/reaper/manual.php

The arm button is the "AR" button on the track control panel on the left had side of your screen.

It's cool man. Everyone started in the same place so no question is stupid.

If in doubt, hoove the mouse cursor over everything in reaper and also right click everywhere too

IIRC there's a help system that can be added to reaper. I'm sure someone will post it if you ask or do a search but I'm not 100% sure it's working in v3.

Good luck!

Got it to work Coerce.

Reaper is sure a whole lot different to Kristal. Its great for creating loops and keeping everything in time. Im not so convinced by recording live tracks and cutting and pasting them though. But once Ive read the 400 page manual Im sure Ill be converted!

thanks again for your help.

I think that's your problem. I use a external Edirol UA-4FX USB Audio Capture device http://tinyurl.com/mjs6kn for recording guitar tracks into Reaper.
