Default timeline video thumbnails : harvid ???

Before settling on Reaper, I tried out Ardour in linux. One tool Ardour uses for the video timeline is harvid which creates video thumbnails on the timeline. I was wondering, could harvid (a github project) be used by the Reaper development team to possibly implement similar video thumbnails on the Reaper timeline?

If the only functionality of Harvid you want is the ability to create thumbnail images for video items, you can use this instead:

The "js_Video - Create thumbnail items in selected track for selected video items" script works for me. You'll need FFMPEG installed on your system for this to work (you can get it from the distro's repo), but I didn't have to do anything special with it or add any other files.
