Default Trouble With Midisport 8x8 Driver Windows 10

This is weird. My interface is glowing steady green for USB connection, cable test is seeing MIDI input.

Device manager is seeing it as an unknown device but driver unavailable.

Driver says it’s compatible with Windows 10, 64 bit on company site.

Try and install, got a runtime error C++.

Right click, properties, run comparability test- driver installs fine.

Tried different USB ports on PC, different cables, restarts, reinstalls- hardware not seeing the driver,
Reaper not seeing MIDI interface.

What gives?

Do other programs recognize it? How about e.g. rtpMidi?
