Can't see MIDI editor ruler?!

Not sure why but I can't see a ruler in the midi editor. All I get is the hand to zoom and move around. I can't set the time selection. I've checked my mouse modifiers and it says "edit loop points and time selection" on left drag for midi ruler. How can I fix this? Thanks!

What do you mean by not seeing the ruler in MIDI editor? Is there just a blank space above the editor area, screen capture about this perhaps? Have you tried with a different theme, like default? If you do have an area above the editing area where the cursor is hand, what happens if you move the hand cursor slowly down towards the editing area? It should switch to another cursor when you reach the area where time selection/loop is possible.
