Keyboard Shortcuts Visualizer

Hi,

I'd like to suggest a keyboard visualization of the shortcuts.

Despite that the action list menu is excellent, I think it's a bit inconvenient to find a free key to assign an action and to quickly see which ones are "default" or "modified".

As a workaround, I created a spreadsheet on Google Drive in which there is my keyboard and the shortcuts with a color code (default shortcuts in purple, modified shortcuts in green, custom shortcuts in cyan, modifier keys in yellow, etc.) and the assigned action in comment when I hover the mouse cursor on a key (I didn't do them all as it would be too long).

I'm not suggesting to replace the action list menu as it's already perfect IMO. I'm rather thinking that a keyboard visualizer on the side would be really convenient to manage the shortcuts.

After a bit or research, I've seen something very similar in Audition. Sorry, I don't like the idea to suggest other DAW/software's feature, but the idea came to my mind even before I've seen it in Au.

This is why I liked manuals of programs like M for Atari ST, ported by Eric Ameres. Or was it the manual of mac version.

My preferred format would be a huge .svg file, where for each modifier its explanation text would be readable, after zooming in. Splitting each into 5 zones, center (no modifier),control,alt,shift,super (to the corners each), each in a different background color maybe. That is it.

Example for the key a, in the to be exported .ini file:
a=doing this and that
control_a=...
alt_a=...
shift_a=...
super_a=...

Later in the .svg template, placing its text using
%a%
%control_a%
%alt_a%
%shift_a%
%super_a%

How can we export such an .ini?
Then what is remaining is only defining a beautiful template or lots of template variants, like the gui styles for reaper.

I would also like it to have the ability to click a key and select an action, that can be associated with this key/shortcut.

It would be a very handy shortcut-management, maybe with the ability to select different layouts.

Some Avid-programs have this ability which is really helpful for professional workflows.

Part of the reason I tend to fight shy of the actions list is the amount of time I always seem to end up spending trying to find the action I need & then setting it to work with a particular key, especially since I seem to be automatically choosing one that`s already serving a useful purpose doing something else.

I'm warming up to visualizing the keyboard layout. It's a good overview to have, though I hope it's not too hard to implement.

That mockup is a rendered SVG.

I think saving page as HTML would be enough.

Remember to add all the resources (images, scripts etc.).

Nope. Tried that. It's in need of some coding to work offline.

Alt+Shift+C Create measure from time selection (detect tempo)
Ctrl+1 Custom: lh env shape 1 linear

I always run short of keyboard shortcuts. It would be useful to see at a glance what's still available, as well as the unavailable ones - with default or custom labeled with different colors.
