Remove "untitled MIDI item" from item names

For those using default English, placing that file into REAPER/LangPack directory and selecting it in Options > Preferences > General > Language will remove "untitled MIDI item" and "glued" from item names.

For other languages, LangPack files are plaintext and can be edited similarly.

all created or glued or freezed items names (midi or audio) should be configurable with wild cards like we have for the other scenarios (render and recording)

And all the available wildcards should be available for every scenario, example: Render has $tempo while recording has not, and this should not happen.

I've got this as a custom action mapped to a toolbar button in my main toolbar. Works well for me - used it for years.

The script is available in ReaPack, I believe.

That one has been bothering me for years. It is ok to get "Untitled MIDI item" if you haven't named the track, but as soon as you name it, and you will, all MIDI parts should change their name accordingly.

What's most annoying is that even when you name the track beforehand, you get the name of the track + Untitled MIDI item. I mean that's clearly a bug and not a feature. LOL It's been there since I started using Reaper in like 2007.

Please dear developers make us type less so we can make music.

I agree ! The term used for “Untiiteled MIDI Item” should be optional. I would use “”. And there should be optionas and / actions to control the behavior and / naming of the items after renaming a track.

For my workflow I would love just the name of track in every item it holds. I don’t even remember renaming items names.

Yes, please - custom wildcards would be fantastic, but even just having the option of not having 'untitled MIDI item' would be great too.

Yes, and the question I would have for the devs is why aren't they just treated the same as audio items? If it is going to have a name, why "untitled midi item" as opposed to trackname_1, trackname_2 etc. "Untitled midi item" honestly seems like a mistake or something the devs put in as a placeholder and then simply left in there.

And before the devs (or anyone else) chimes in with well, you can have both audio and midi on a track, 1) none of us are putting audio and midi on the same track and 2) even if we did, no one is confusing midi items with audio items.

I'm glad to see that this has been addressed, but it seems like there's still no way to control what these are named, by default. Is this correct? I would like all my new MIDI items to have no name at all, by default. Is there any way to do this?
