No real suggestions here.
I know I've said this before to others, but you've repaired disk permissions already, right?

Be sure that the "Plugins" folder is with reaper.app -- without it REAPER will not be able to read any files, including .wav...

actually im not sure what the disk permission is but im in the process of doing the repair now. my roomate is a computer tech guy and he found the repair but its taking a while.
and as for the plugins folder, it IS there where its supposed to be. sorry this is kind of confusing and frustrating.

Here's one:
REAPER gives me mixed results when dropping in audio files from one of my external Firewire drives. Version by version, it works - it doesn't work - it works but it won't save - it doesn't work - it works and saves but the song file is corrupted.
So - are your media files on your startup drive or on an external HD? If the latter, copy them to your internal drive and try it again and let us know what happens.

If everything is set to default and you haven't saved the project, the audio files will try to get written in the Applications folder. This might cause problems.
If you save first to, say, your Documents folder, does it help?
Have you tried to fix the permissions on your HD?
When installing Reaper, are you sure copied the whole Reaper directory including subdirectories?
Does your user have limited permissions?
Those would be the most common problems.

it is the same problem i had, a student encounter, other users have too ...
see:
http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=27298
http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=25652
try to run repaer from an usb-stick ( copy your reaper folder to it ) ... and it works fine.
all my reaper settings were ok, mac permissions also, checked my drive , ... had someone knowing osx very well looking at it ( he couldn't find any problem ) ...
i had to re-install osx ... and that did the trick.
???

weird. man i hope its not that drastic. i dont get why it would work completely fine for like two weeks and then just all of a sudden totally go haywire.
but tonight when i have some time i think i might sit down with it again and just try to do everything all over again and read SUPER carefully to see if theres something that doesnt sound just right.

i use the same ( repear ) folder all the time, i don't use the upgrade named folders.
one of my students told me she had it each time after upgrade's, and reverting to older did the trick.
as i don't have a preveous version folder i couldn't and had to re-install all.
today upgrades works great in the same folder.
haven't any idea what it can be. al is in place as all have to be, the same place were it was.

yeah i thought it was kind of strange that if i used the older icon, it still wouldnt work but if i clicked on the "updated version" icon it works fine....so im not really sure what gives. still getting used to macs but with windows when you update something, theres only one version, and thats usually the newest you have dled.
