4Front Rhode
DSK RhodeZ
MDA epiano
Clavia labs
Good? No, not particularly. But try them all, because they're free, and try combining them, putting them through virtual Leslies, tremelo, distortion, and all that jazz.
To be honest, based on what others have got from it, I think that Mr Tramp is probably as good as any of the freebies, though I've never had much luck with it for some reason.
My favourite electric piano is LazySnake, which doesn't actually sound much like a classic electric piano at all, but is a must have anyway.
If you use Reason, you should definitely check put the electric pianos in ElectroMechanical 2.0 ReFill
If you're prepared to fork out a couple of hundred dollars, then check out Lounge Lizard.

Yup, Mr Tramp2 is the one I have. Mostly it's OK... I just can't wait to have a controller keyboard to really play with it.
Thanks for the suggestions, I downloaded LazySnake and will give it a shot in a few seconds.
I don't use Reason. And I guess I'm prepared to fork out a couple of hundred dollars - but for the keyboard controller! ;-D
Thank you for your answers.

I think my best suggestion is to download all the freebies, load them all into a new project, and experiment extensively with combinations of different ones at different levels with different presets, until you find a blend you like, and then save them as a track template.
I got some interesting results with a combination of Clavia Labs, 4 Front, Mr Ray 22, Mr Tramp and LazySnake, all playing in unison. You might think it would sound like a complete mess, but it doesn't - it sounds very much like an electric piano, and has the advantage of being unique.
I'm not sure what's going on with the MDA epiano, but I can't see it listed on the page I linked to earlier.
This links to the zip.

Thanks for the answers. I'm really liking Lazy Snake. I'm actually using it for the chords on Judas Priest's "Before the dawn", and it sounds really nice...

Glue Reeds from mokafix is a good one. Their online shop is closed, but I think that you can still download their free stuff.

Thank you. Those actually seem pretty awesome...
Problem is that I have a limited experience using samples as well as Kontakt. Could someone please give me a few pointers regarding how to import those 3rd party .nki files and .gig files into Kontakt? I was able to open Nick's Rodes for example, but by navigating to it only - is there an easier way, like creating a library for example, like the factory selection?
As for the .gig files I imported/converted them using Kontakt, and placed them in a separate folder in the Kontakt folder, and their samples in another folder. Now I have .nki files, so same question as above, how can I create a library for all those nki files to load them easily?
Sorry if it's a dumb question - again, I have very little experience with Kontakt...

In fact the weird thing is that when I open those nki files in Kontakt 5, it tells me "demo", then it times out... but when I go to activate it like I activated Factory Selection, well, it says "all products activated", but the "demo timeout" doesn't go away...
Clearly I'm doing something wrong...
But all gig files converted to nki very nicely. They sound VERY good. Especially those acoustic pianos. Wow...

How to play .gig files and recommendations for soundfont players

So I don't know what software (preferably freeware!) I can use to play those .gig files. Any suggestions?
Also, does anyone have suggestions for soundfont players?
Thanks!

Phenome. The dev kinda sux, and the browser's a nightmare, but otherwise, the software is solid.

:-D They claim to have an "easy-to-use browser"! It seems like I read somewhere that it's SynthEdit-based though. Doesn't that pose problems in Reaper?
What about Jeskola XS-1? Anybody tried it?

Only if you run multiple instances. With eight instrument slots, I can't see that you'd want to unless you were using nine soundfonts.
Also, only with plugins made with older versions of SynthEdit cause problems, and even then there are work-arounds.

I'm not familiar with .gig. You can build soundfonts from .wav using Vienna SoundFont Studio.

Shortcircuit (I think both ver 1 and 2) will load gig files, and is my favourite sf2 player as it's a proper sampler with a terrific browser that has search and preview features.

Heh, haven't messed with soundfonts since the end of the 90s! Just found one called bennetng_8850asia, lots of asian percussions and sounds plus... one scream... hilarious! I had forgotten how good some sound...
