hello millsy.

it used to work very easy with midi overdub. you have to enable midi overdub.
right click the record button and choose midi overdub if i remember correctly

but it has been broken on my computer for a while. will you tell me here if it works for you?

because then i can check if something is wrong in my settings again. or if it does not work anymore.

Or just splitting the track to include those notes you want and copy that portion of the track and paste it where you want - if i understand what it is you want to do...

Default Midi overdub

Hi, millsy again. I would prefer to play over it in real time as opposed to copying and pasting.

Yes, MIDI Overdub mode should do exactly what you want, works here for me fine.

not to hijack this thread, but i have a related problem. i can do midi overdub now but i cannot hear the notes i am adding. i have input monitoring on and monitor track media while recording on. it used to work . could it be some add-on i installed that is causing a problem?

i have solved it by making a new midi track and sending the midi to the channel with instrument. but i would still like the midi overdub to function..
