Default VST-instruments now bridged

I had to buy a new computer and now I have windows 10. In Windows 7 all my instruments (like Kontakt, Massive, etc.) opened up beautifully. In Windows 10 they appear suddenly "bridged". And I cannot minimize the window, so everything stays on top. A very nasty thing is that when I have changed an instrument the dialogue-window that asks for saving the changes appears BEHIND the big VSTi-window. And is not accessible. Unless I make the VST-i window very small and put it aside. This is really inconvenient.

I hope someone can help me to get this workable again. Preferably how I can make the VST instrument not bridged.

I see in the picture you use Reaper x64.
Did you change form Reaper x32 to Reaper x64?
Or did you install x32 plugins?

Thank you for your quick reply. I have searched in my system and maybe this information helps.

In Win7 I had already Reaper x64 and in Win10 I installed the 64bits again. The Kontakt-plugin (by Native Instruments) is installed with Native Access. The exe-file is in C:\Program Files (not in Program Files x86).

In my VST-plugins settings I have 2 maps (see screenshot). The Kontakt-plugin for instance is only in the 64bit-map.

Ahmm...the name of this directory is "....\Studio\VSTPlugins 32 bit". Maybe these are 32 bit plugins. And then they have to be bridged to run under x64 Reaper.

When I look in de VST insert window I see all (x86). See my screenshot.

Tonight I will try to delete the VST 32bits-Folder in Reaper and see what happens.

Yep, all your Kontakt plugins are x86, so hence the bridge for use in Reaper x64.
You need to install only x64 Kontakt and then you're good to go without bridge!

Thanks for this.

I will have to find out how to do that, because I installed all these instruments the same way as I did in win7. I have no idea why in win10 they got into 32bit. My Windows 10 is 64bits.

Solved!

This what I did:
In the VST-Plugins preferences I set the 64bits folder last. I read the line underneath which said if there are multiple VST's the last folder will be available. So I changed the order of the folders. Now it's fine again.

Happy I am.

And thank you, because you got me thinking and looking from new perspectives.

Glad you solved the problem!
It is true that if you use x32 and x64 plugins, you need to have the x64 library put last in Reaper VST path to make Reaper use the x64 version if you have both x32 and x64 versions of a plugin installed.
