Default Muffled sound in Reaper

Hi folks,
Just had to factory-reset Reaper cuz of setting probs...
Was installing and organizing with those vids from the site, very usefull but have done something wrong somewhere I guess.
Anyway,
Got myself some Volca's and want to record them with Reaper.
But the sound from all 5 goes into muffle mode ?
Meaning the highs, mids & lows don't pop-out anylonger.
I bought 3,5mm TRS to 6,5mm TS because that's what all people including Thomann recommended me.
From Volca > ADA8000 > Adat ProfireLightBridge > Reaper > Profire LB Main Out > Rolls MX28 > Hercules XP 2.0 60
I've connected my DEQ1024 equalizer with S/PDIF which works fine to, I can boost some if needed, checked by bypassing using the routing matrix and also the bypass button on the unit.
Used other gear like MC-505, MS-20 etc. with great sound, also inserting wav samples in Reaper sound top.
Any ideas are very mutch appreciated.

Wrong cable. You are connecting a 3,5 mm stereo jack to a mono balanced plug which causes the weird sound.

You need a different cable, with a single 3,5 mm TRS on one end, and two separate 6,5 mm mono TS on the other (like guitar plugs). One of those plugs will be the left signal, the other will be right signal.

Thanks for the input Philbo King!
The Volca's, except for Sample & Keys, are mono with a TRS output for heaphone use.
I'm gonna test in a few, when I don't wake up the neighbours, with a 3.5 TRS to 2x 6.5 TS and use only 1 6.5 TS.
Some people say that's the way to work, I read all different opinions.
This thread goes about which cable for the volca's, and at the end there's no single conclusion because everyone uses different.

I'm heading upstairs and check the 3.5 TRS to 2x 6.5 TS.

Ok difference with a 3.5mm TRS to 2x or 1x 6.5mm TS =
Tattaaa
+ 6db volume
But that's about it
I bought 6pcs ground loop isolators,
maybe that'll help, but it's not u buzz I'm hearing, I've had that before and that shows up on the meters from mixer panel.
I'll post my findings when they arrive

If you used this gear with great sound since you reset Reaper and through the same setup into the ADA800 etc then your problem can only be with the Volcas.

You say the lows mids highs don't pop out "any longer"....so the question is when did they pop out?

It's a little confusing as on the one hand you're suggesting something changed to cause this (Reaper reset?) but on the other you sound like you're just setting this up for the first time.

Ground loop isolators aren't going to help.
