In general ReaSamplomatic only uses CPU when playing samples, so in theory you could have a lot of samples, and if the polyphony isnt too high it should be relatively low...

but of course you should test yourself :

hehe thanks I just did...
I noticed that poise ~5% with 5 samples
ReaDrums (jamster's latest) same 5 samples ~10%.

I'd be interested in other folk's findings.

Wow, I'm surprised Poise would be less than ReaDrums...but then, I know almost nothing about programming! lol

I'd love to see the Sampl0matic would get some of the features that Poise has...

also if you use reasamplomatic to play ogg samples, it decompresses them on the fly, which means more cpu use

I've tried this for the first time, I never used reaper as a sampler before, but I can't figure out how to send each sample to a different FX track.

Let's say I want the snare to have a little reverb but I need the kick dry. Is there a way?

Btw it looks awesome.

Yep, no different than how any multi-out instrument works: make a new track, assign it's output to it. Glad you figured it out! :-)

Ya, I figured that out, but now I can't figure out this:
http://www.cockos.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14172

Simply put, I have all the tracks set up, I can solo/mute them, insert new fxs and deal with the volume.
Tho I can't seem to pan them :|

What could be the problem?

...and that is very annoying. I have my Reaper installation on a different hard disk and would like to specify the default folder for track templates to a path I choose.
However, I have not found out how to do that
Can anybody give me a hint, where in the settings I can do that ?

P.S.:
Apart from that, I am using numerous track templates with ReaSamplomatic now, making use of my drum-sample collection in a better organised way than before. So thank you for the track template idea for drums and stuff

Are your Track Templates still showing up in the Shortcuts of the Media Explorer? You can rename/delete/drag into a project from there - does this help?

I've never seen an option for specifying a templates folder, I think this is hardwired into Reaper.

That is good a suggestion.
Although I would like to see an option in a future update to specify the path.

This is a nice bit of kit, I myself would probably set every note to cowbell by default, but thats just me. Other than that very nice.

My first post, and I am also a registered user.....There is no Track Template folder in my "Documents and Settings" folder?
In fact there is no seperate Reaper folder anywhere else on my system, with the exception of the Reaper Program folder on my C:/ drive?
Using XP Home.

Dig a little deeper: Documents&Settings/User Name/Application Data/Reaper/Track Templates - as explained in the first post of this thread.

Found it!.....Right, for the benefit of those (Like Me) who do not have "View hidden Files and Folders" enabled in the "Folder Options" menu in the Control Panel.....Please enable them, and you will then see this hidden folder!

I'm grateful this tread was bumped, because I missed it before. I put the track template on my DAW, have played around with it a bit, and it's way, way cool. Thanks Jamester!

I haven't! I've loaded the ReaDrums template, so I now have Kick, Snare, Perc 1-4, Closed hi-hat and Open hi-hat all on the one track. Being dense, I can't quite get past what I should do next. It's strange - I keep figuring out 90% of how to use a Reaper function but can't grasp the last 10%. I suppose that part is the inspiration...

Man I'm stupid. I cannot find the track template folder to save this file in. I looked in the Reaper folder and can't find a folder labeled track template. Do I have to make it? Thanks!

Try C:/Documents and Settings/[username]/Application Data/REAPER/Project Templates. Preferences might have a way to change that path buried somewhere, but I'm too lazy to check right now.

Yeah, I copied and pasted that file name (changed to my user name) and tried the search feature on my computer and it couldn't find it. I've also scoured the folder tree up and down, opening every folder and still cannot find it.

Well since the thread was bumped I just thought I'd say thanks to Jamester once again. In 2008 I bought a new drum machine, an Alesis Trigger I|O and use it with my hand-made sensor array and with your ReaDrums, and it works great! I'm not a pro, but I have fun with it. Readrums is the bomb! And Reaper is the schnitzel!

Cheers, frog

You can just copy/paste one of the instances of ReaSamplomatic. Then change the start and end notes to a note not used by any of the other instances; and set it to play a different .wav file.

Jimmahbee -
Hey check out this thread:
http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=26814
I made ReaDrum 16 then routed it to 8 outs. It works rather well for what I intended if you'd like the template I'll post it for you. Insert it and you
get just what it shows in the screen cap.

Cheers,
ModSwinger

Cool to see the ReaDrums template is still going strong!

For those still getting used to it (and Reaper's track routing in general), once you wrap your head around it you will see that this template is infinitely expandable/customizeable. Put in as many samplers as you want, name then however you like, and map them to whatever midi mapping suits your fancy.

One example mapping-wise is if you're using a midi keyboard to trigger the samples, you might want to change the note(number) mapping to be "all white keys" instead of chromatic; this way the snare will be on "D" instead of "C#". I made it chromatic because I'm using a Korg PadKontrol, but for a proper keyboard I'd change them to white keys only...

Yeah i just checked this out for the first time like an hour ago and found it very useful. Great idea. It suits my quick sampling needs very well. I say quick because anything that I want to do alot tweaking to I use a sampler like shortcircuit. This is a quick way to throw ideas down and load samples that are already tweaked to perfection.

Yeah SC is fantastic, I use it myself. It is amazingly full-featured, especially so given the price!

You can of course create individual output tracks for each Sampl0matic, thereby allowing far more tweakability per sample (still not close to SC, but a big improvement in flexibiltiy nonetheless); in my own use each sampler has a track out, and it's all grouped in a Folder which then gives you a master drum bus. Great as SC is, workflow-wise I like the ReaDrums concept the best personally, and keep coming back to it.

Now if only Justin might give the lowly little Sampl0matic some love in v.3...

I think the reason why the readrums is so effective is because each sample has a dedicated instance of reasamplomatic and it makes you pick more carefully the quality of the samples that your going to drop in. It's like it's got its own little space. And it's simple and to the point! No extra tweaking and editing. Just play the samples! However it would be nice to have a slice function in reasamplomatic where each slice gets mapped to its own note on the kepoard or pads. It would be awesome if they could incorporate dynamic split into reasamplomatic and then it would completely awesome! Also a way to evenly slice a sample into even parts would be very useful too. Baically it needs some split functions. I really do hope they continue to work on it cause it is a really nifty sampler.

An "instance" just means "another sampler"; copy/pasting works the same as with any Windows program, either right-click or use the Edit menu or Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V or highlight+Ctrl+drag. You can copy/paste almost anything - audio clips, midi clips, effects, instruments etc...

Sure this would all be awesome - but man, I'd be *thrilled* with just some sampler basics like ADSR, playback modes (one shot, backwards, looped) and some filtering to start...
