Can anyone solve my long-time issue with tinted track panel background colors?

Hi all.. I've been playing around trying to resolve a mystery (to me anyway!).

It seems that regardless of the color theme I try + whatever gradient settings I use, the tint of the track panel background is never the color I have actually selected from the palette.. either when selected or unselected.

Am I doing something wrong? I have just tried a fresh install on a different machine to be sure this is the case by default and it seems so. But I find it strange that this doesn't seem to have been mentioned anywhere, so is a particular setting I need to change?

Currently the unselected tinted tracks are always darker than the color I tell them to be - selected being lighter I can understand, but surely the color you choose for the track background should be the one that appears?
