Best way to live gig reaper for guitar - MIDI Setup
Hey gang.
Trying to decide how to setup reaper for a guitar rig. I think I could do a few things. I could have different tracks for "presets" and solo them with CC change codes? Or else I could set up a track like a rack and use CC change codes to turn plugs on and off during performance? Could have a few different amp models in the chain and switch them out etc. Right now i am working on programming a teensy with 5 footswitches to send commands for switching. I can essentially get 5 banks of 5 codes since a long press on one switch can load a preset list of 5 codes. Any thoughts on setup this way are really appreciated. |

Doing exactly this right now.
It's all possible, but right now (no prepared tool set available yet) not very user friendly to set up. You might want to look here -> https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=202751 and here -> https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=202857 Come back with more after reading. -Michael |

im getting it setup saving the tracks as live configs. i assume a midi number is assigned to that track.
however..how do i have this chain..Tube screamer into amp into delay...how do I turn TS and delay off? DO i just make a second track with the same amp with no pedls and just switch to that track? or do I turn the vst within that track? |

A "naive" setup for reduced performance expectation (not avoiding a short audio "dropout" when switching patches, no "spillover", needing to have the patch switch controller to send the correct Midi messages, ...) can be done using simply the "input track" of "SWS LiveConfigs". Here you do each "sound" in a dedicated track and have LiveConfigs switch them.
See the LiveConfigs user Guide mentioned in the other track(s). (As you say "midi numbers", which is term that has no decent meaning, I suggest to use the threads mentioned and other sources to learn more about Midi information handling, and the "programmability" or Reaper in general. Or maybe the threads mentioned could be able to allow you to just follow the setup Pipe is trying to accomplish.) -Michael Last edited by mschnell; 02-14-2018 at 10:45 AM. |
