Default Question about recording MIDI -I'm a newbie to MIDI

As the title says, I am a total Newbie to using MIDI. Never done it before!

I have a PreSonus AUDIOBOX USB 96 Microphone interface.
Along with it came a software called Analog Lab Lite:

So far, I have the plugin installed and it works. I am able to arm the track for recording, but I think there is an issue with how I have it configured because when I start recording I am getting sound out of the plugin but none of the sounds I am keying on the virtual keyboard are actually being recorded onto the MIDI track.

What do I need to do to resolve this? Probably some changes in preferences?

which virtual keyboard are you using? The one that's part of analog lab or the in-built Reaper one (alt + B)?
The one that is built-in to analog lab will not work for inputting MIDI, so make sure you are using the reaper one.
