Default Improvements for Neighbour dockers

At the moment we have this:
Two bottom dockers side by side, divided exactly at 50% of the main window width:

Improvement 1:
Two bottom dockers side by side, manually divided by a variable spacer:

Improvement 2:
Getting rid of the preset comment line (could go to the preset pulldown menu) and winning vertical space:

Improvement 3:
Giving the FX background the same color as the main background.

The screenshots show a standard wide screen at 1920x1080.

I think multiple dockers look messy without some visual separation like a border between them (not a comment on your mockups which look nice). I think it'd look much more organized and sane with borders by default but I'd at least like that to be a themeable option.

Number 1 and 3 get a MASSIVE yes

as for 2, I thought you could hide the comment line? I'm sure you use to be able to.

Yeah, lack of borders is making some of the setups I've tried look nasty.

+1 especially adjustable docker dividers (like Vegas).

Yes, hiding it was possible in Reaper 3, but so far no longer in Reaper 4.

Vertical screen space is so rare in these days of wide screen monitors, so it may not be wasted with unnecessary elements...

Default Improvement 4 - Compact FX panel

Even more useful screen space allocation by compacting the FX control panel!
Just compare the first screenshot in this thread with this layout:
