Default How to drag Roland MTP encoded files into Reaper?

So, we have finally decoded Roland's mysterious 24-bit MTP RDAC audio compression format, and I am ready to start thinking of other cool things to do now.

How can I drag my RDAC encoded file directly into Reaper? I assume I will have to write some kind of codec plugin that Reaper understands - how do I do this?

I would love to audition and import these RDAC files directly in Reaper without having to perform a conversion to a WAV file first.

Cheers,

Randy

Hmm, I'll make an example of a PCM source plug-in for REAPER when I get back.. for now you could base it on the mp3 decoder plug-in (available on the LGPL download page), but a simple documented example would probably be better..

Thanks for the guidance, Justin. I'll probably finish my C version of my MTP decoder in the next few days, and then I will be looking to do this.

Cheers,

Randy

That would be very helpful. I'm looking at the MP3 example now, but there is a lot of stuff in there making it somewhat more confusing, but I think I'm figuring it out.

I now have a fast Roland MTP RDAC decoder written in C, I just need the basics of delivering the samples using this interface. The MTP format is a 3:1 compression where each 16-byte frame is decoded into 16 24-bit samples.

Cheers,

Randy
