Terry, is supposed that the knobs moves when receiving midi data, or they only send?

You can use the link Marce.
The knobs just send controller data.

a good idea can be that they display the movement of the received midi data too. If you want to do that, in the kvr forum, the synthedit section, i asked about animating knobs from midi data some days ago, and they gave me several ideas to do that:

MidiMixer was created to control ext/internal soundcards/modules.
If you wish i can create a version that can receive midi too.
But for what purpose do you need midi input Marce?

Regards, Terry.

For example, you could make it so that the mixer controls certain channels from certain vsts, and i can use a controller to control your mixer. So, your mixer would sorta be a bridge.

Suppose you are playing a midi track with modulation-whell controllers. You put MidiMixer between the midi track and your synth. Your midi track is sending mod-wheel messages but looking midimixer you cant know that, and you start tunning the knob from the zero point, that can make an abrupt change, if by ex, your value was 127 at the current point.
Dont know if i explained myself, sorry.

Cool Terry! It works very well here, very usefull to see what happening with my mod-wheel while playing! I will post it in the GPO forum, i guess that some other users will found it usefull too.

Some suggestions:

-The hold controller is an On/Off controller if i correctly remember, maybe an On/Off button can be more easy to set up than a knob?

-Dont know if too much difficult to achieve, but, would like to have some other assignable knobs, i mean the same than mod-wheel, chorus, etc, but for controller you want to assign. That way you can controll any synth/sampler freely.

Great that it works Marce.
You're right, i will chance the hold controller to a toggle button.
I will add more controllers soon, and a user defineable ctrl too (only send).
I need to keep the gui clean and small, so only the major ctrls will be added.

Remember this vst-project started on special request from Slarty1, so all kudos for him.

Watch this space for updates.

Hi Terry, i guess there where prgchange events in your midi's that forced a program change.

I catched a bad cold today, so i'm ill again, and had not the power to go online today (still not recovered from last cold).

Well... it was you, marce and janna who forced me not to rest.

I need an anti-influenza injection now, see ya.

Terry, really i thank you very much about this!

Some things:

-MiniMix: It is very handy! But, i believe that is only receiving Midi Channel "1" only. I miss some box where select which channel you want to use.

Default MiNiMix update

OK found some time before the female singers come in.
Input and output channels selectable now.
Different look (else it would too long).
Bender also shows values (0~127).

Default MidiMix...Works......MiNiMix.....no patch change!

Hi Terry

Tried MiNiMix last night everything works EXCEPT patch change !
Tried new version (bigger one), same thing as original version!
Only noticed problem with MiNIMix early this morning (3:30 AM),so didn't mention it until now.

MidiMix works (all versions) with patch change and all other controls as I mentioned before however.

How many female singers ??? hahaha

Hi Terry. Horrible bug, but easy to fix, i believe. MidiMix works great... but it filter all the note-on/off messages, so, if you play a midi file trough it, the controllers are monitored-send ok, but you dont have any sound. Is supposed that the rest of the controllers you are not tweaking with MidiMix, must have a pass-thru, isnt?

As far as i tested it today, al works fine.
Inserted Midimixer and MiNiMix on a miditrack and plays fine through the plugin.
I mailed Slarty1 for testing it to.

Default Both work OK !!

Hi Terry

tested both with several\single midi tracks at same time in many combinations

MidiMix track 1, MiNiMix track 2. ALL tracks play OK and no problems. I can actually have moog VST loaded for FX in a track and have midi control for same track playing back soundfont using MidiMix OR MiNIMix. (all loaded for same track).

Reaper slider controls volume\pan for Moog VST, and MidMix\MiNiMix controls all effects for sb-live playing at same time on same track. I first remove 1 sec (approx.) of all midi data at begining of imported Cakewalk files, so no "hidden midi data",causes problems with playback. (as mentioned before !!).

Midi Hardware(in devices menu) = sb live midi-synth. for soundfont playback without Take1 (MidiMix controls card directly....GM MIDI in memory always)
To playback second soundfont(NOT GM) at same time on same track, I use Take1
ALL combinations, eg. Moog VST + Take1(sf2 #2)+ GM midi with MidiMix\MiNiMix as controller work just fine (lots of music from just 1 midi track now !!!!).

When using MiNIMix, make sure IN and OUT are set for same track however......track1...In=1 Out=1 track2....In=2 Out=2.

I CAN RECORD output from all above(everything I hear) onto stereo audio track while midi track(s) is in playback....in effect convert all midi into a wave file. Then delete midi tracks and use many VST's effects for audio track instead....minimum CPU "overhead" this way.

If this isn't clear enough or didn't answer question, then I'll add more details later

Default Forgot something

I can use MidiMIX and MiNIMix loaded on same track at same time, and have a choice of which one to use to change anything.
eg. MidiMix pan track1 to left and then use MiNIMix to pan to right

However. you don't need both at same time (this was experiment !).

If I only want to change 1 midi track in song ,then I use MiNIMix instead (smaller) BUT still have option of changing other tracks).

Default MidiMix VST

Hi,

The main purpose is to allow me and others to send midicc to my sb-live card and be able to change volume\panning.etc. and most importantly....change the patch in my soundfonts. I'm sure it can be used to send Midicc to any on board sound card, that has only GM playback ability. This makes it handy for those who want to use the onboard card with\without VST's combined on same track.
that's why I use custom soundfonts..better than standard GM voices. Another advantage is, their is NO additional CPU "overhead" when using internal soundcard !!!!.
Reaper's sliders (volume, balance) only control the audio output from VSTi's, and I had NO control over imported midi tracks when using soundfonts with my on board card.

Terry W. made MidiMix (up to 16 tracks) and then made MiNiMix, which is really just a single track (visually on screen),but with the option of controlling any of 16 tracks using it's own I\O buttons (unlike VST's)

Take1(also Terry's VST) allows me to load\unload soundfonts into memory for sb-live from within Reaper, and adjust all the effects in real time.

Default Development ideas...

Consider this as further dev ideas where MiNiMixer could evolve in MIDI "channel strip":

-Introduction of midi processing (TRANSPOSE +/- button, Midi compressor/expander/gate/lim (Th.point, ratio, gain,...),

-possible auto "MIDI quantizer" with strenght % option,

-"extra MiNiMixer edition" for GM drums layout with separate controls (BD, SN, HATs, TOMs, CYMBs,...). MUTE/SOLO buttons is a MUST!! ,

-OK, I'll stop!

In my case i use a lot the Kontakt player, that only show what happen to midi data in the current channel (talking about the knobs), and with midimixer i can see all in one look.

For Terry:
Terry, i made again a test and is not working, MidiMix is filtering the note on/off data.
I do this:
Bome midi keyboard connected to MidiMix standalone that is connected to MIDIOX. So, if you press a note on the keyboard MidiOx dont show nothing. You need to go to the "mididevices" of the savihost standalone and check "Pass Trough Output" to make it work... but that option is not available in the VST version and notes on-off are filteres.
Here and screenshot about what im talking:

Default Marce...I tried MouseKeyboard...no luck

Hi Marce

I tried using the Boem's keyboard, and could NOT get it to work with Cakewalk or Reaper. I tried every combination I could think of. Midi pass through doesn't help either !!!.

I can't get it to record notes or even play any sounds at all when Reaper is running.

I used it with sb-live card by itself, and ONLY then did it playback and sound any notes using it as input. It will NOT communicate with Reaper whether MidiMix or MiniMix is used or not.
(so no "filtering notes" is happening) with my card.
I can have Reaper playback midi tracks and control them with MidiMix (normal) and at SAME time have Boem's keyboard play back GM soundfont directly(no Reaper) with sblive using sblive midisynth "B". Reaper has complete control of sblive midisynth "A".
will do more experiments later if needed !!!!

what sound card do you use ???

I have a sblive too, and a c-port.
Ok, i test it in Reaper, and it pass the note on/off. It dont work in Tracktion (same issue that with standalone version) so it will require some little more investigation. Soon as i know what happen, i will post.
