Native access
Hi,
Has anybody managed to get Native access running? With me it just crashes and I am stuck. My OS is Ubuntu 18 Hoping to hear some bright solutions! Thanks as always :-) |

I do have Komplete Elements running fine though. It just has a limited selection of instruments compared to the full Kontakt Factory Library. I did also keep everything that it downloaded and all expanded and everything, so I can try again later. I ended up with a 25GB folder with 17 files that make up the Factory Library, plus a 163MB installer for Kontakt itself. Won't have to download all that stuff again, the next time I give it a try. Oh, and I'm using Xubuntu 18.04 with Wine-Staging, if that makes a difference. I was using Wine-Stable when I installed Komplete Elements. |

I have it working via
A poorly documented combo of using wine-staging, a bunch of wine over-rides, and copying related folders from a win7 partition, because NA updates itself often, sometimes unsuccessfully, so I copy over successfully updated folders from win7 as needed. I think Native Access has parts in three locations. These are my over-rides, they go in .wine/drive_c/Windows/System32 using the winecfg 'libraries' tab interface (windows .dll files replacing the wine versions). I don't delete the originals, but append their name with DEFAULT so they can quickly be spotted in a file manager, for renaming if causing regression rather than winning. Then I copy the new .dll alongside, dll's are easily found in google, or a local win install. Hopefully they will do the trick concrt140 d2d1(disabled) d3d10 d3d11 d3d9 d3dx9_35 d3dx9_41 gdiplus mfc42c71 mfc90 mscoree msvcm80 msvcp140 msvcp80 msvcr120 msxml3 ucrtbase mfc42u mfc42 You might need a certain version of .net framework and an app called robcopy, provided in a package. Look at the LinVst page, https://github.com/osxmidi/LinVst the readme mentions some helpful items, and they may be mentioned in the 'using windows plugins' topic in this forum. I get this info from osxmidi and Jack Winter, so watch for their comments in general, theirs will make you luckier than mine! Cheers Last edited by 4duhwinnn; 11-28-2018 at 05:24 PM. and was able to demo 'West Africa'. But I had no luck even downloading the Kontakt 6 Player. I was able to register Reaktor, and a few of it's commercial instruments OK, as well as last year's Replika freebie. Hopefully more gibraltor, and less eggshell, as time goes on. Cheers |

Are the overrides you posted above for Kontakt or for Native Access?
I made zero mods to get Native Access running where it would connect, show me my purchased products, and download updates and installs, but the install of Kontakt 5.5.8.1 would try to run then crash with some page fault errors. If the overrides were for making Kontakt run, I know what I'll be doing tomorrow, but if they were for Native Access . . . Well, I still know what I'll be doing tomorrow, but it won't be dicking with Native Instruments stuff any more. I did not even attempt to get Kontakt 6 downloaded or installed. I bought and paid for Kontakt 5, so that was the only thing I tried to make work today. |

The over-rides have not been picked up for Kontakt,
some may have been for Native Access a long time ago, but wine improves quickly. Some might help with Kontakt. But if it uses any visual c++ or .net, installing programs you know bring their chosen version might be lucky. BlueCat Axiom amp-fx-sim is one, demo available. Some of them were for KV331 Synthmaster and Synthmaster One, IK Multimedia, Korg Legacy M1 (not yet registering), Oatmeal, Fathom, Rhino, (and Serum demo uses the d2d1-disabled item) http://www.dependencywalker.com/ This purports to find dependencies for a given .dll maybe it's worth a look. I think I'll try it on my Korg troublemaker. Cheers |

Been a while since I tried Kontakt so I don't know if anything has changed.
I needed a msvcp140.dll override. |

Thanks for that! I may give it another try tomorrow. At least I won't have to do the three freeking hour download of the Factory Library, since I unarchived it and saved to to my second physical drive.

Have you tried installing version 5.5.6.6? I'm using it because it's easier to install libraries to. \\\you can get it here: https://support.native-instruments.c...r-Lower-VIDEO- I had to use overrides on my laptop with ubuntu 18.04 but My new main PC running Manjaro with wine staging (now at v3.20) ran out of the box, even native access. |

OK this is weird. The full version of Kontakt will run stand alone now, but when REAPER does a plugin scan Kontakt blows with the following. I've tried overriding as Windows, Windows then Native, and a other variations. Which way is the proper one for Kontakt?

I was just going to suggest "WINEPPREFIX=~/whereyoukeepit winetricks vcrun2015", but happy that you got it running!
In past testing it appeared that turning multicpu support off improved runtime, but I've heard that might not be needed anymore.

At this point I have pretty much every effect plugin and instruments that I have in Windows, so I am real happy with it all. Just cloned my entire .wine folder to my second physical HD since it is all working so well. - |

Heads up, ducking & running,
this years Native Instruments Christmas gift kept throwing up an 'Invalid download destination' error, when I tried to first install it on a win7 setup. The error defied my list of usual suspects...so off to the winter wonderland of Native Instruments help pages... ...to make a long story short, I think that by having used Native Access most recently in linux, the download paths in linux were different from those in the win7 setup, and wound up stored in the bowels of Native Access. And because Native Access is just a cyber toad, that innocently sits there gumming the last bug it ate, waiting for it's next bug to wander by, the error exists. When I used Native Access preferences to re-modify the path to the correct win7 setting, the installers then worked correctly. So path-modifications could be something to beware of going forward. I wonder if cross-platform PC and mac users of Native Access could share the same fate? Cheers |
