Default new apple sampler ?

I found this, it is new on Lion (?)

It can load Instruments from Soundfont Banks.
or create new instruments.

that looks awesome! I'd like to try it and compare it to Kontakt but i don't have Lion. Is there some place to download it for owners of previous OSX releases?

hey! cool... well, since i already use indipendence free, or the integrated reaper sampler i don't think i'll have to upgrade to Lion , but it looks like it's much more "lighter" than the other two

AUSampler is extremely buggy in Reaper 4.15.

I wasn't able to load any SF2 files using this, unfortunately.

Edit: I lie! I didn't notice I had to select an instrument and bank too. Exciting!

How does one do that? I tried:
- "Import instrument from DSL file..." (from the cogwheel at the top)
- Selecting the Layer 1, and "Add Samples..." (from the tiny cogwheel at the bottom)
- Selecting the zone "Sine 440 Built-in", and "Add Samples..." (from the tiny cogwheel at the bottom)
- Selecting the zone "Sine 440 Built-in", and "Choose File..." button on the right.

Nothing changes, and I only get the sine wave.

Been Googling for a while, but seems that no documentation or guide on how to use Apple AUSampler exists.

1. select your sf2
2. at bottom click on "Instrument Name" ... Bank ...

Ah, didn't see that one. Thanks!

Is it just me or does the AUSampler feel very un-Appleish, as in having quite an unintuitive workflow? Also there are several parameters to adjust, but nothing globally?

Why is it impossible to have a decent free SF player for a Mac?

DLSMusicDevice is free,
bs-0 is a free player, (but only in MONO and only 1 Midi Channel, no reverb, no chorus)

http://www.bismark.jp/bs-0/bs-0_MacOSX_v4.1.dmg

bs-16 - 50$

Supports only bank #0 by default, changing the bank requires a bs-0 to check for the bank number, and bankonload JS to actiually change the bank. That is nowhere near decent in my book.

...and causes a click on note release, and usually sounds worse than the DLSMusicDevice. Still not decent.

DiscoDSP Highlife could be good, but it doesn't set the pitch automatically for zones, so I only get the four sampled pitches.

I tried Highlife some time ago and it seemed clunky and buggy. It has no zone editor either?
